“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” Joshua 1:9, NLT.
My sister, before we enter a new year, God wants to root out unforgiveness, bitterness, and resentment completely from our hearts and minds. He doesn’t want us strong in that way, stubbornly holding on to what they did, what they said, and how they failed you. He doesn’t want us strongly holding on to past mistakes we’ve made, refusing to receive God’s love and forgiveness. He said be strong and courageous, and with this command from our Father, He is supplying the grace and power to be strong and courageous. Strong people forgive. Strong people humble themselves to God’s authority in their lives. Strong people take the mountain and possess the land.
Being God-kind of strong is going to make you look weak to the world, but you submit to God and His way anyway, and you watch and see. Watch how your mighty God shows up for you. He is going to show Himself to be strong in your life and it will leave those around you speechless. He’s going to flex His muscle through your strong love, your strong trust in Him, your strong refusal to hold on to the grudge, and your strong submission to what He wants. You are and will forever be a walking sign and wonder of God’s goodness and mercy. My sister, that’s who you are. You’re not what happened to you, you’re His daughter. You’re not what they said about you; you’re His daughter. Step into this new year right, my beautiful, strong, and courageous sister in Christ!
Prayer: Father, thank you for speaking directly to my heart. As I prepare to enter a new year, I open my heart to you. Remove any unforgiveness, bitterness, resentment, malice, hatred, hypocrisy, stubbornness, unbelief, and ugliness of heart. Forgive me for allowing these things to take root. I receive your love and mercy. I receive your surgical hand to the deepest parts of me. I receive your truth about me. I’m not what happened, I’m your daughter. I’m your called and chosen daughter, and that’s what I receive and believe. Through you, I am strong and courageous. In the name of Jesus!
