My Strong

“Every wise woman builds her house, but a foolish one tears it down with her own hands.” Proverbs 14:1

I often tell my husband, “Baby, you are truly a blessed man of God. The way you tend to the needs of everyone in the home and the way you serve others outside the home. The way God uses you to love and care for me and for our children. You lead us so well, pray over us and cover us. I call you Strong as a nickname and that is exactly what God has made you to be. My strong, mighty man of valor.” Then he says, praise God, and bows down to the Lord to thank Him. Was he always this strong? Leading this well? In some ways, yes, but also, no. I had to make up my mind that no matter the areas he was still growing in, I would continue to call him Strong no matter what. When we experienced tough times in life, I would look at him and say hey my Strong. When he experienced shipwrecked faith, I looked him in the eyes, and said you are still my Strong. God has blessed the words of life I have spoken over him to take shape and form.

Scripture tells us in Proverbs 12:18, “There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise promotes health.” That man may not be perfect but he is the one leading the home, and coming at him with destructive words is like throwing an object at someone while they’re driving. It puts everyone’s life in danger. You can talk about problems without attacking someone’s character. You can bring up issues without cutting someone down. Be a powerful voice in that man’s life that says what God says about him. Say what God says until you see what He says. Through your faith and patience, God will work in him godly character. Receive the help of the Holy Spirit to build your home, not tear it down.

Prayer: Lord, I repent for any destructive, condemning and unloving words I’ve let come out of my mouth towards your son. I bring my tongue into submission of you, and I pray you help me to be a loving, healing, prophetic and wise voice in my husband’s life. I declare he is my strong man of valor. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. This is good because I recently decided to pray for someone to do better instead of talk about them. I realized that negative talk doesn’t make the situation better. I’m going to speak positive over the situation. I’m growing!

  2. Although, I am not married at this point of life. I speak and keep this timely devotional for my three sons. May the Lord help me to continue to speak life and may they find wives to build them up and not tear them down. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Blessings, Shalom and Agape πŸ‘€πŸ™πŸ½β™₯οΈπŸ“–πŸ™ŒπŸ½
