“So if anyone cleanses himself of what is unfit, he will be a vessel for honor: sanctified, useful to the Master, and prepared for every good work. Flee from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart” 2 Timothy 2:21-22, Berean Standard Bible.
The Lord woke me up around 3am this morning to pray, and while sitting in my closet, praying in the Holy Ghost, I realize I can’t go any further in prayer with a large pile of clean but unfolded laundry near my chair. So I get down on my knees to fold and sort. Once the laundry is done, I sit back down on the chair and continue enjoying God’s presence with a cleaner closet.
Jesus didn’t just come for us to have a great time in His presence, worshipping with our soaking instrumentals and Bible app. The Lord came to deal with our messes and our large piles of ignored problems. And the closer we get to His return, the desire a purified heart and a holy life before God is going to intensify.
God wouldn’t let me sit in His presence a minute longer with a pile of laundry at my side, and neither will He let us sit in His presence and not receive His Holy Spirit help to deal with our issues. If we’re going to continue to make real progress in our walk with the Lord, we are going to have to get down on our knees to tackle areas we’ve ignored for too long.
We’ve been looking for Holy Spirit to move in spectacular ways. But He’s moving in ways that heals and restores what’s been broken, and bring great peace where there’s been great unrest.
We may not be dealing with unclean spirits, but a large pile of things we haven’t addressed in our life is a great hindrance to our spiritual success. Let’s deal with these things with God’s help, my sister. We will continue to enjoy His presence, and enjoy our new life in Christ with a pure heart and a Spirit-filled life.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for sending Jesus to deal with all of the issues of life. I surrender completely to you and ask you to come in and help bring order where there’s been unrest and chaos. Purify my heart. Help me clean up my life. Help me do what has been so challenging for me. I submit to your will and your way, and pray that you are greatly glorified in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
