“Put off your former way of life, your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be renewed in the spirit of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” Ephesians 4:22-24, Berean Standard Bible.
A few years ago I went to preach at a revival in Pennsylvania. My husband and mother were on a separate flight and somehow missed their flight. So I had to go on without them. The night before the ministry event, I was struggling to know what to share. All night I prayed to God to give me a fresh word from heaven to give the people. Then I remembered my husband’s clothes were in my luggage. Although he missed the flight, his clothes had made the trip. I hurried to my luggage, grabbed his shirt, his pants, and put them on. I began pacing the floor praying in the Holy Ghost. His clothes hanging about me, I instantly sensed the authority and boldness of the Lord. Then the Lord began to share fresh manna with me to give His people and we were blessed. There was no power in my husband’s clothes. The power was in what his clothes represented for me in that moment—authority.
My sister, the Lord wants you to know today you are clothed with Christ. You are clothed with His righteousness. You are clothed with His mind and you have spiritual authority in this hour. Scripture says in Galatians 3:27, “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ did put on Christ.” When you don’t know what to do. When life comes at you hard and you don’t know how to respond. When you’re at a loss for words and don’t know what to say. Go to God’s word. Grab what He says about you. Put on your identity in Christ. You will sense your spiritual authority in Christ and the boldness of Christ, and you will receive from the Lord wisdom, knowledge, understanding, fresh manna from heaven, the way to the provision, the way out of temptation, and loads of grace and mercy. When you don’t know what to do, put on Christ.
Prayer: Thank you, Father, for ministering to my heart today. You know what I desperately need. So I come to your throne boldly and I receive your grace and mercy. Thank you for clothing me with Christ. I put Him on. I put on the new man, and put on my true identity in you. I trust you to show me your way today and minister to my every need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
