A million times, I love you.

“A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep” John 21:17, NLT.

When Jesus came to Peter after he had denied Him three times, Jesus didn’t shake Peter and say, “Why you do this? Don’t you know I love you!” Instead, He asked him three times, “Do you love Me?” and each time Peter responded with an emphatic, “Yes, Lord, I love you!”

When people around us fall into sin, so often we try to convince them that God still loves them. Maybe we assume they’ve forgotten. The truth is, we know how much God loves us, we just have trouble remembering how much we love Him—especially when we’ve fallen. The enemy speaks loudly in our ears, “If you really loved God you wouldn’t have done what you did! You don’t really love Him like you say you do! Look at you!” So imagine what will happen when we come to them proclaiming the truth that they do love God. It will put to silence the lies of the devil and set them free to love and serve God again.

No matter what you have done, remind yourself that you love God. Because you love Him, you’ll obey Him. Because you love Him, you’ll honor Him with your life. Just as Peter was later used by God to win thousands of people to the Lord, you too will be used mightily of the Lord when you acknowledge daily that you love Him.

Say from your heart, “Father, I love you. A million times, I love you. I don’t care what the devil says; I love you, Lord. I don’t care how I feel; I love you. Help me honor you with my life. Restore me. Heal me. Deliver me. Thank you for never leaving me. Restore those around me who have fallen. Touch their hearts and their minds and help them see their love for you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
