Be Unsuspecting

“…man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

Jesus was unsuspecting. You wouldn’t have thought Him to be the King of kings if you would have seen Him walking on the streets. He looked like an ordinary man when all the while, He was the savior of the world. David was also unsuspecting. He didn’t look like a mighty warrior. He didn’t look like he could slay a giant, let alone defeat a lion and bear. When the prophet came to anoint the next king of Israel and Jesse brought out his strong sons, Samuel asked, “Are these all of your sons?” Jesse answered we have one who keeps the sheep. When David entered the house, God told Samuel that’s him. David didn’t look like a king, but he loved the Lord with all his heart.

You may not look or feel like the kind of woman who would be used mightily by God to impact this world, but remember, neither did Jesus or others throughout history. The Bible says God has chosen the weak things to confound the mighty. He has chosen the foolish things to confound the wise (see 1 Corinthians 1:27). While everyone is focusing on the external appearance of things, continue to focus on the internal by letting God accomplish His work in your heart and mind. Let Him enrich your soul, and you will enrich others.

“Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear—but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious” 1 Peter 3:3-4, ESV.

Prayer: Father God, I thank you for your wisdom and your grace. Help me to focus more on the condition of my heart. Make me beautiful on the inside. Strengthen my character. Make my love walk powerful. Transform me until I look like Jesus on the inside and behave like Him on the outside. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

(Read Psalms 51:6; 2 Chronicles 16:9)

  7. Precious Jesus, I receive this message. I want to look like Jesus on the inside and act like Him on the outside. I will choose to allow the Word of God to transform me. As my mind is renewed I declare that love and grace will flow from me to others. Freely received, freely give! I denounce fear from my life. GOD has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind! Hallelujah 🙌🙏💯💪👏

  10. I always like hearing this. The cornerstone the builders rejected is a stumbling block to the fake ppl etc. If there are other examples in addition to David and Jesus I would like to learn. I heard that Peter was almost a bully and also impulsive even aggressive but God chilled him out, Jesus taught him how to act right lol. Always interesting to learn from ppl in Bible. Thank u for message
