Divine Provision

“And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “The daughters of Zelophehad speak what is right; you shall surely give them a possession of inheritance among their father’s brothers, and cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them” Numbers‬ ‭27‬:‭6‬-‭7‬, NKJV‬‬.

Before they were allowed to enter the promised land, a census was taken of all of the males of the children of Israel, age 20 and older. Each tribe was allotted land in accordance with the number of men counted. When the count was completed, five of Joseph’s great, great, great granddaughters approached Moses and the leaders of Israel about the portion of land belonging to their father. It was their custom that only sons be named the beneficiary of the inheritance. But their father had no sons. In response, Moses prayed to God about the sisters’ request. God commanded that their father’s portion of land be distributed to the women. Simply because they dared to ask, these women received an unprecedented blessing. Daughters of Zion, God sees us. He hears us and has unprecedented blessings in store. Seek. Knock. Ask.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being the God who hears all, sees all, and knows all. Lord, we are grateful to know You as a provider. For Your Word declares that You will provide Your children’s needs according to Your riches in glory. Everything in the earth and beyond belongs to You and was made for Your glory, including Your daughters. I ask that you bless every daughter who has been waiting patiently and obediently for Your divine provision. Give her the wisdom to be a good steward of the resources You abundantly pour out. Bless her that she might be a blessing to others and an earthly demonstration of Your love. For You so loved the world that You gave Your Son sacrificially. Teach us, Your daughters, to be a reflection of that kind of love through our giving. It’s in the mighty and holy name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
