Don’t be afraid to slow down.

“In your patience possess ye your souls.” Luke 21:19

Don’t be afraid to slow down. Everyone’s in a hurry these days, but don’t you feel pressured to move or to do or say anything until you know it is the Lord leading you. It is not your schedule the Lord is working according to; it is His schedule. His timing is perfect. It is not your power that will lift or move anything; it is His Spirit and by His power that things happen that boggles the mind. His strength is perfect. It is not your love that people are looking for. It is His love working through you that changes lives. His love is perfect. So wait on Him. In your waiting, you will hear Him. In your waiting, you will see clearly what He wants you to do. In your waiting, you will not just think you know the way; you will know. He will give rest and quiet assurance in your soul. So, don’t be afraid to slow down and wait.

Prayer: Father, I feel pressured to move, to decide, to speak, to know what to do. This produces anxiety, Father. Remove all fear and anxiety and quiet me with your love. Quiet me with your word. Slow me down on the inside by your Holy Spirit, and help me rest in you. I’m happy as long as I’m in your will, doing what you want me to do and saying what you want me to say. Help me stay in your will. Right in the center of it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  2. This is so timely! I have been applying to something I desire and have been denied for 2 year straight now. I feel purposeless and like I have no direction which is so frustrating. I feel that I have to move or do something, esp. to help my financial situation. I don’t do sitting “still” very well.

This morning a song came on with lyrics that said “quiet my soul cause your teaching me how to slow down” and I was led to come to this blog as your devotionals are always so timely. and in accordance with what God already shares with my spirit. God confirmed that I need to slow down and I am struggling to have faith in him because I don’t feel he’s directing me but I will try by best chose humility and obedience. Thank you for this blog <3

  4. Thank you for post. It’s occurred to me I’ve been thru a lot & I need to recover before can fully bounce back. Yes I’m always anxious and it’s always too late at my age to be successful. But then Abraham’s wife laughed when she was told she could have a child at her old age. Anyhoo yes. I think I needs try chill a lil n stop panic 24/7 feeling. Thank u so much for devotional. Ofcouse is often danger of Christians doing opposite – too little action expecting God to do it all. But yh sometimes we need to chill a lil for various reasons. Happy Thursday. ( / Friday / etc ).
