We need wisdom and understanding!

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding” Proverbs 4:7, NKJV.

“Discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you” Proverbs 2:11, NKJV.

“Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the transgressor is hard [like the barren, dry soil or the impassable swamp]” Proverbs 13:15, Amplified.

I’ve done some foolish things in my life. Years ago, to celebrate our one-year anniversary, my husband and I took our savings and paid to stay at an island resort that cost 1,000 US dollars per night. We were so broke while at the resort that we didn’t have enough money to eat. Foolishness. We couldn’t enjoy any of the amenities. All we could do was observe the view—the view of other people enjoying themselves. I can’t count how many foolish decisions I’ve made through the years and how many times God has had to run to my rescue. So when He took someone like me and made me a wise and understanding woman, it was a miracle!

The Bible says, God’s Word makes wise the simple. He gives understanding and common sense to those who have none so we can live the life He destined for us to live. When we find ourselves making one foolish decision after another in any area, this is when we say to ourselves, “Girl, you need wisdom and understanding!”

Understanding can be found in three distinct places: In God’s Word, in our personal life experiences and in the experiences of others.

I challenge you today: “Open your Bible to Psalms 19:7 and say this out loud: Father, I thank you for your Word. Your Word is able to make me wise. Your Word is able to convert my soul and transform my life. Your Word enlightens my darkness and helps me to see things right. You said understanding will keep me, and Lord, I want to be kept. I want to be wise. I ask that you give me wisdom, knowledge and understanding. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

  1. AMEN!! I pray for God’s wisdom everyday. I want His Spirit minister to my spirit so that I can make the best possible decision. I have made a lot of bad decisions and God has kept me that’s why I asked for wisdom so that I don’t keep making unwise decisions. So I try to answer the call of wisdom everyday. God bless you Woman of God! ❤️

    1. Thank you so much for sharing your personal account of doing a “foolish thing”! The foolish thing that you and your husband did, I vividly dreamt about doing, roughly 28 years ago… I woke up to present every aspect of the vision that I’d experienced with my obsessively practical husband, hoping that he would buy into the idea of making my dream a reality.😊 After having described every detail of the exclusive location, it’s palatial setting and the grand suite where we stayed, my husband peered at me in the early morning light to ask how we would eat or live once we got back to reality… He then rolled over and went back to sleep.😂 It was at this point that I realized that my husband truly did NOT share my sense of adventure.

I smile at the memory, and praise GOD for my journey… I thank Our FATHER for the gift of His wisdom and jewels of understanding. ❤️

  4. I’ve made countless foolish mistakes repeatedly including the same mistakes over n over. I’ma go read Psalms 19:7. I’m sorry about your vacation :0( once we were supposed to go Jamaica, huge loan took out, n they said my passport was not pristine enough so we weren’t allowed on plane (corners were peeling off a lil) I told my partner to go without me but they was foolish n didn’t lol . Anyways yh. I’ve a habit of doing dumb ish without thinking. Impulsive. But having been sacked more times than I can remember I’m learning to control my mouth. Cuz office snitches love repeating wat u say plus twisting it to kiss bosses behinds. So it is possible to learn eventually the hard way

This is why we all know BUT GOD KEPT us so we want let go and we keep going because of his strength and power for us to RISE UP AND KEEP GOING!!!! THANK YOU SISTER 🙂❤ BLESS YOU LORD for your Love, GRACE AND MERCY…TIME AND TIME AGAIN!!!

  7. AMEN! I will shout this out from the mountain top, GOD grant me wisdom, knowledge and understanding. The word in Matthew 7 says that if we ask for bread, GOD wouldn’t give us a serpent, so I know He has already answered my prayer. I look forward to being put in situations to testimony of GOD’s wisdom, knowledge and understaning. I’ve seen His spiritual wisdom coming out of me snd I glorify Him each time. I want more, I desire more, I have to have more, sooooo LORD give me more 🔥🌟🙏💪
