“For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You” Psalms 86:5, NKJV.
Maybe you are suffering from a broken heart, which can make it hard to love. Sometimes our brokenness is caused by the sins of others and sometimes our own sins are the cause of our heartache. Years ago, after unintentionally hurting a dear friend badly, I became so afraid of hurting anyone else that I distanced myself from every close relationship in my life. It was like a forced time out. The enemy told me, “You are too dangerous to be trusted with anyone’s heart ever again.” He told me, “You are a terrible friend and it’s best that you live alone.” And I believed him for a while, until God visited me in my self-made prison, broke through my walls and loosened my chains.
God will visit you when you are at your lowest, and will heal and deliver you. He will visit you when you feel unworthy and undeserving, and show you that you were worth dying for. He will meet you right where you are, and will pull you up out of the mud and place your feet on a firm foundation. He will prove the devil to be the liar that he is, and will help you see the truth of His Word. Then, He will bless you with the very thing you thought you would never enjoy again! That’s what Jesus did for me, and He will do the same for you!
Prayer: My God, you sure know how to speak directly to my heart. Thank you for meeting me right where I am. I welcome you into my heart, and into the places where I’m hurting most. Forgive me of all my sins. You know my heart. Rescue me from the muddy pit I’m sinking in and place my feet on a firm foundation in you. Help me reject every lie from the enemy and receive only your truth about me. You’re working on me and I thank you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
