It’s tough but necessary.

“Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit” John 15:2, English Standard Version.

It seems some women cut people off so well they were born with scissors in their hands to cut their own umbilical cord. Not me; I care too much. So whenever God tells me He is pruning relationships in my life and needs me to sever unhealthy connections so I can continue to thrive and be fruitful, I cry. Maybe it’s the Mom in me who sees every relationship like a child I’m responsible for. But I’m quickly reminded, no, every person I care for belongs to God, and He alone is responsible for guiding and helping them, and they are responsible for themselves.

My sister, you’re entering a new season of growth, maturity, and fruitfulness. Begin to ask God to place the right people in your life and remove the wrong ones. It’s nothing personal, God designed us to bear fruit, and sometimes our involvement with certain people can hinder us in more significant ways than we realize.

Prayer: Father, thank you for speaking to my heart. Reveal to me the relationships in my life that are unhealthy. Give me wisdom and grace to do what’s tough but necessary. Help me continue to love them by praying for them. I trust you to care for them and help them be all you created them to be, whether they are in my life or not. Now, help me focus on your purpose and plan. Be glorified in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

(Read John 15:1-5, Psalms 51:6; Proverbs 13:20)

  3. Thank you for this message! Today is my 55th birthday. I am reading this devotional in sunny Florida where I moved to heal when my husband filed for divorce from a 30 year marriage. My family is currently broken and I have had to remove people and God has removed some people from my life. I believe God is doing some reconstructive pruning.

This Word let’s me know that He isn’t done with me yet! That He is pruning, cutting, shaping, and molding me to look more like Him, that He will be glorified by my life. Thank you that confirmation took place where this person was an distraction and need to be removed, and to put that relationship in His hands and not to worry about it.
Thank You, Lord, for being our Only Wise God who guides and directs us.

Sister Kesha, I give you your flowers now.πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’•

  10. It’s a blessing when you escape the clutches of toxic people. Stalkers use tech to spy and it’s extremely hard to extricate from. But when finally free itvis paradise. But must stay vigilant using tech to ensure they don’t re-stalk. Sadly it’s way too easy and mostly men who stalk have no consequences for it. Except Gods eventual punishment ofc

  11. Good morning. I absolutely love these posts. Most speak to me but this one hit home. I just made a physical move and built on a spiritual move that I have been working on. I needed to move out of an area that was filled with some good memories and a good bit of negatively charged energy and a good bit of trauma in my life. Thank you to our heavenly father for protecting me and cutting and trimming those branches. Amen

  12. I’ve been in this lonely journey for years now. The Lord has been working on and in me. One of the hardest decision I’ve had to make ti let go of people who didnt add to my life. Very necessary for our inner life to detach from this world and attach to the Divine. Thank you
