Live in the Moment

“But Martha was distracted by all the preparations to be made. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord replied, “you are worried and upset about many things. But only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, and it will not be taken away from her” Luke 10:40-42, Berean Study Bible.

While lying on my husband’s chest one morning, the Lord spoke to me, saying, “Don’t think about anything else right now, but this moment. Hear his heartbeat. Breathe in the smell of his body. Talk with him and share a laugh. Be present in this moment with him, and don’t let it simply go by because you are focused on other things.”

Sometimes in life, our moments are not fully experienced and not fully lived because we are not present in the moment. Our minds can be full of cares, and it steals the precious moments away from us that our Father has given to us to enjoy.

My sister, be present in each moment of your life. Don’t let it simply go by because you are focused on other things. If there’s been heartbreak and sadness, let the hug of your children, a laugh with a stranger, the smell of a flower, or the morning sunrise be a moment that you stop and take in. The Lord promises to satisfy your mouth with good things. He promises to give you an abundance of moments each day, but it’s up to you to notice them and fully experience them.

Prayer: Father, thank you for the life you’ve given me. Help me learn to live and enjoy every moment you’ve blessed me with. Help me to be present and not consumed with cares. Help me enjoy the life and the people you’ve given me and notice the moments you give me to enjoy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

(Read Psalm 94:19; Psalm 103:1-5)

  1. GM, thank you for this. Sometimes I do get caught up in other things and I don’t pause and enjoy the moment. But I am learning to be present and enjoy the moment that God has blessed me with. Because I realize life can be snuffed out at any moment! So thank you Woman of God for this great word! God bless you!♥️

  4. Good Morning Sister Kesha, This devotional speaks directly to me. I’m on vacation and my thoughts this morning were about things of “tomorrow”. I was worrying about appointments and things I have to do next week. You always have an on time word. Thank you for allowing God to use you. ✝️♥️🙏🏾

  5. Amen! This has been on my mind lately with everything I’m going through. Being left by the person you love and trying to press forward can be hard everyday. I have been telling myself and God to just enjoy each day and be joyful regardless of my situation. It’s so hard. But I know I can do it. Especially for my children. Being happy and enjoying each day is ok. It’s ok to be joyful through the pain It doesn’t mean I don’t care. It just means I have faith God will prevail at the end of the day All thing work for the good according to his will to those who serve him ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

  6. Thank you so much for this beautiful word. I actually fell asleep last night with the Lord putting this on my heart. To not miss out on what He is doing in this season and be present. That in the waiting of promises, He wants us to not miss out what He is doing now and enjoy the season. Even your example spoke to my heart. I am grateful for God using you always to bring an on time word.

  7. Dear Father, thank You for this message to not get distracted by the preparations. Father, You, letting me know that it’s good that I have You as my Portion and Hope. For I hope in You, Lord!! Thank You for choosing and accepting me, and with Your loving kindness You keep drawing me. I will live in the moment. You have allowed me to be able to take care of my Mother, and You have graced me to share, read, and minister services to my Mother because of the eye surgery and I’m grateful. I will be present in those times we share You and memories to enjoy this journey.
