The Lord stays.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

One Sunday morning, as I got my family ready for church, I had to stay behind with my oldest daughter who had become sick. As my son was heading out of the door, he asked, Mommy, you’re not coming? I said, “No, I’m staying home with my daughter. I don’t leave you when you’re unwell.”

Right at that moment the Lord began to speak to me. He said, “I do not leave you when you’re unwell. I’m not like man. I don’t leave when you’re not at your best, or when you’re down and can’t get back up. I don’t leave when you’re not acting like yourself. I stay. While everyone leaves, I stay. I am a very present help in your time of trouble to nurse you back to health. I stay to get you back on your feet and strong again. I meant it when I said, I am with you always even until the end of the age.”

As a mother, if I refuse to leave my children when they’re unwell, how much more our Lord. Praise God, I tended to my daughter, and she is now healthy and strong but I want us to be encouraged today. The Lord is there and He is our ever present help. He never leaves when we’re unwell.

The Lord stays.

Prayer: Glory to God! Father, we thank you for being with me until I’m well again. Thank you for ministering to my heart. Touch my mind, body and soul and cause your healing power to flow, removing all symptoms of sickness and disease. You are my healer. You are with me always to care for me and help me. I love you and praise you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
