Walk on the word of God.

“”Lord, if it is You,” Peter replied, “command me to come to You on the water.” “Come,” said Jesus. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.” Matthew 14:28-29

God is going to do exactly what He promised you. You can stand on His word. He won’t fail you. His word is like a trusted chair that never fails to hold you up, like an umbrella that never fails to cover you, and like a navigation that never fails to guide you. Don’t walk by what you see; don’t walk by what you hear or by what you feel. Walk by faith. Walk on the word of God.

When Jesus came walking on the water, the disciples saw him. Peter called out to Him, if it’s you Jesus, bid me to come out on the water with you. Then, Jesus said, come! Peter got out of the boat and walked on that word, “Come.” Without the word from God, Peter had nothing to go on. He could’ve tried to step out on the water without hearing the command from the Lord. He could’ve tried to do what Jesus was doing for the sake of trying it out. It’s important to get before God before we make another move, before we take another step and spend another cent. Wait for the Lord to give you His command. Water is not designed to hold you up, but God’s word will.

If God has spoken to you, walk on the word He gave you. If you don’t have a clue right now what He’s saying, stay right there at His feet in prayer and in His word until He speaks to you. Stay there until He makes it plain what you’re supposed to do. You have no word to walk on unless God says, “Come.”

This excerpt is taken from the book, Stay Right There.
