Weather the Storms

“…in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength…” Isaiah 30:15

Growing up, whenever a storm came, my mother would tell everyone to hush up and turn everything off. There was no watching television, no listening to our favorite songs on the radio, not a lot of movement. Just stillness. Silence. I didn’t understand why we had to do this as a young girl, but as I grew older, I began to understand—learning how to weather natural storms will teach you how to weather spiritual storms. The most profound lessons are learned, revelation and knowledge revealed, when we’re still.

You may be desperate to get out of it, to get through it, to heal from it, to get past it, and for it to be over, but daughter of God, your Father in heaven wants to reveal some things to you. He’s going to quiet you in your soul, so you can see what He wants you to see, and learn what He wants you to learn. You will hear Him clearly. The Lord is with you, and He will help you. You will see the sun break, and in a little while, you will hear birds chirping again. But for now, weather the storm. You will grow a deeper appreciation for the day when you’ve walked through the night. Your ears will love the sound of God’s creation when all you’ve known lately is noisy thunder. Your faith is being proven and tried, and you will come out pure gold. You will get through this. I know you will. Weather the storm.

Prayer: Father, you are my God, and I am your daughter, your prized possession. I need you to wrap me in your arms. Hold me close. Help me to endure and persevere. Show me how to weather the storm. Quiet me and calm me on the inside. You have me and everything that concerns me on your mind. I’m in your hands and everything’s going to be okay. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
