What’s in your hand?

“We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. “Bring them here to Me,” He said. And He directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children. Matthew 14:17-21

Whatever is in your hand, the Lord makes it enough and causes it to run over in abundance. Today, the Lord your God asks what do you have readily available? He is not waiting for what you’ll have, or waiting until it’s enough in your own eyes. It is not your job to multiply it, stretch it, or increase it. It’s His job to make it enough and over. It’s not your job to scratch your head in mathematical calculations or equations. It’s not your job to count all the mouths that need to be fed. It’s not your job to count the rest of the weeks before your pantry runs dry. It’s not your job to count the days remaining and wonder if the check would stretch that far.

It’s your Lord’s job to cause an explosion and expansion. When He fed the 5000+ and 4000+, He never had trucks of fish and bread. He didn’t say “Let’s wait until we get enough supplies, or go to the bakery and order enough bread. He didn’t say, cast your net and catch enough fish. He simply asked His disciples, “How much do you have? Bring it here, to Me.” Today, your Lord, the Lofty One, is saying the same to you. “Daughter, how much do you have? Bring it here, to Me”

You may not have two coins to your name. Maybe a little flask of oil and a handful of flour is all there is. Little as it is; He still wants it. Give it to Him. Maybe your income is not enough for the mounting needs; hand it over to Him. You didn’t make it to college; bring it to Him. You’re still unwedded; bring it to Him.

Listen; it’s not what you don’t have that determines how far it will go. But Who holds it that determines how pressed down, shaken together, and running over it will be. Your little never really mattered in the first place. It is Whose Hand it is in that is the game changer. The Almighty makes use of seemingly unlikely, imperfect, ordinary, insignificant things to confuse the learned, mathematics, warfare, provisions, and health sciences. Ordinary fishermen, tax collectors, and women of ill reputation changed the world.

The staff of Moses saved a nation. There was no special sword, arrow, or wand. An untested shepherd boy with a stone took down Goliath. Gideon, the outcast, hidden away, brought victory. Two hopeless lepers ended a siege and famine in Samaria. Jael a woman, a foreigner, with a tent peg took down the mighty Sisera, Israeli enemy. Whatever you have can’t be too small when it’s in Yahweh’s Hand. For unknown to you, within that thing you think is too small, insufficient, or insignificant; His Spirit is hovering; waiting to unleash His power and glorify His mighty name. Amen

“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” Psalm 23:5
