You are one with Him.

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me” John 15:4, New Living Translation.

I love watching my mother and father dance. You can see their love for each other and the oneness they’ve developed over time. No one’s stepping on the other person’s feet, and no one’s trying to do their own thing. Even their mistakes become part of the dance.

When you are married, you exchange your “I’s” for “We.” You are no longer independent and making decisions on your own but are now joined in a covenant relationship with your husband. From watching my mother and father, I’ve learned marriage is about two people becoming one. Just because you’re married doesn’t mean you will automatically flow together as one. It takes time and effort to learn how to be in sync with one another.

The same goes for our relationship with the Lord. We are one with Him, but it takes time for us to learn how to flow as one with Him. Until salvation, we made decisions on our own, leaning to our own understanding and using our best judgment. Now, God is helping us learn to no longer operate independently from Him but as one with Him, trusting His judgement and His way.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for making me one with you. Thank you for teaching me how to flow with you. Help me not lean to my own understanding but flow with your grace and your Spirit today. Let it be like a beautiful dance. Make even my mistakes part of the dance and be glorified in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  3. Father, thank you for this message from You to my heart. Thank You for opening up Your Living Word to me, instructing me how to become one with You. To stop beating myself up when I make a mistake, with You making it apart of the detour in working all things together for my good. I ask You to lead and guide me by Your Holy Spirit, teaching me to trust You and Your timing knowing that You know what is best for me. Father, to let You be Lord and let go of trying to know how the story ends. Amen.
