“I am the true vine…” John 15:1
In life, when the water is too deep to touch the bottom with my feet. When the current is moving fast, and I fear being swept away. I often look for someone or something to hold on to. I look for anything or anyone who appears stable. But God quickly reminds me in those moments that He is the true vine. Not a person, not a relationship, not a thing, He is my true vine. He is the anchor of my soul. This truth is what keeps me and holds on to me tightly.
My sister, you will not be overcome by the deep waters, and you will not be swept away. You don’t have to look around frantically for someone or something stable to keep you from drowning. Jesus has wrapped Himself around you and is holding on to you tightly. He is the true vine, He is your rock, and you are secure in Him and He is secure in you. Even with all of the emotions you feel, you are deeply anchored in Christ (see Hebrews 6:19).
Prayer: Lord, thank you for speaking to my heart. You are the anchor of my soul. You are my Lord, my vine, and I am in you and you are in me. You keep me from drowning and from being swept away, and I thank you. Help me, Lord, to not look to people or things to be my stability. Help me hold on to your truth and rest in your love. In Jesus name’, Amen.
