A Critical Mind

“Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]” 1 Corinthians 13:7, Amplified.

While feeling extra critical of a friend, Holy Spirit checked me. He said, “Kesha, people are already overly critical of themselves enough. They don’t need you to add to it.” All I could say was, Lord, I repent because I know that’s not who you made me to be. He helped me focus on the good, and I made a list of everything I was thankful for about them. By the time I was finished, my focus had shifted, and all of the negative emotions I felt were completely gone.

Just as the Lord opens our eyes to behold wonderful things in His Word (see Psalm 119:18), He will open our eyes to see wonderful things in people if we ask Him. He will shift our focus and cause all of the negative emotions we feel to subside. Whether it’s our spouse, our family, or a friend, the Lord will help us to no longer focus on what they’re not doing right, but see the good and see the positive.

Challenge: As the Lord helps you see the best in those around you, make a list of everything He shows you about that person that is good. Then, share that list with them.

Prayer: Father, I thank you for checking me. Forgive me. I resist and reject a critical and fault-finding mind. I have received the mind of Christ that believes the best of people, and I choose to focus on the good while you work on everything else in them. Open my eyes Lord to see wonderful things you have placed in the people around me, and help me bring that out. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

(Read 1 Corinthians 2:16)

  13. I am crying because I am so guilty of this and want to change. I love my father dearly and admire him, and he is the most wonderful person I know, yet I am often critical to him 😟πŸ˜₯😒😒😒. I don’t know why I am so terrible all the time. I am going to start writing everything I love about him EVERY MORNING so that this gets engraved on my brain, heart, and soul, and I really want to treat him kindly as he deserves.
I say I love him, and I do very much, and I can’t imagine life without him, yet I am horrible and cruel at times 😟πŸ˜₯😒😒😒.I have to STOP yelling at him about little things that about me and see all the good in him that is there, and what a wonderful Father he is, and SHOW HIM and LOVE HIM rather than just saying those words.
Daddy, I’m so very sorry for hurting you with my vicious tongue 😟πŸ˜₯😒😒😒. Father God and Jesus please help me treat my father ALWAYS with the love and respect that he deserves.
Writing Dad’s GREAT POINTS every morning is a wonderful way to let go of the little stupid things that don’t matter and stop me from being hurtful ❀️ I want to be a better daughter, the daughter that Daddy deserves πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–
