A friend is a mirror.

“Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful” Proverbs 27:6

One of the hardest things can be telling someone the truth. What if they become angry? What if they choose not to be your friend anymore? What if they say you should mind your own business? These questions may enter our minds when there’s a need to talk to someone we care about. It’s not an easy task at all and can fill some of us with anxiety.

The Bible tells us, “Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” A true friend will tell us when our breath stinks, when we have something in our nose, or when we have lipstick on our teeth. They will caution us when the guy we’re dating is the wrong guy for us, when we’re headed down the wrong path, and when we need to simply slow down and enjoy life. They are a mirror.

The beautiful thing about mirrors is not only do they reveal areas we need to improve in, but also areas we are incredibly strong in. Like a mirror, a real friend doesn’t lie. My sister, it’s a blessing when you have a friend that knows how to be truthful, patient with your growth and encouraging. If you have a friend like this, treasure them and never take them for granted.

Challenge: Examine your heart to see if you’ve been truthful with the friends in your life, and ask yourself how well you’ve received hearing the truth about yourself.

Prayer: Father God, help me to be like a mirror in my friendships and help me allow others to be a mirror to me, sharing with me the areas I need to improve in and the areas I’m strong in. Be glorified in the friendships you’ve blessed me to have. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. What a friend we have in Jesus. The Savior who because he is a friend, therefore we can be friendly. What a blessing to think on others. I looked in the mirror just this morning and I was able to smile because I am filled with peace and joy. God is good to me. Let us show ourself to be friendly. Be grateful for the true friend(s) in your life. They are a blessing from God, sealed with the Love of Christ Jesus. They are by your side on your Christian journey and a prayer warrior who knows the power of prayer. So when I look in the mirror I know who is in me with me and behind me all the way. Take the time to be a true friend. Praise God.

  5. Father, it’s late and I want to let You know as You already do. That I don’t have much experience in having female friends or have good female relationships. I’m praying that You bring into my life that type of friendship with a female that You want to develop a healthy relationship in my life. Not a manipulative or controlling person, You know because she doesn’t like me the others don’t as well. Father God, You know that my Mother and sisters is the only female relationships with my grandmother’s I’ve had in life. A cousin on my Dad’s side since he passed, we’re trying to develop a real relationship but it’s long distance. The females in my church family are different as well. I shared this verse with a church sister and she’s been trying to murder my character every since with causing division. In Galatians 4:16 –
16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
DOTK, I’m asking for prayers that these relationships get better and that I continue to grow in the areas needed so we all can flourish where we’re planted. Pray that God will intercede, working miracles with our spirit’s to embrace our callings and walk it out enjoying our journey’s with Him unto our expected ends.

Sister Kesha, thank you for the devotionals are always relevant to what is happening in my life and I need to discuss. Thank you for your obedience! 💐❤️💐❤️
