A Need to Please

β€œEvery good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” James 1:17, KJV.

So many of us go throughout our entire life trying hard to make others happy, feeling a need to please, and never wanting to disappoint those we love. The reward may be their smile and gratitude, but the consequence is pure exhaustion.
When God divinely places someone in your life, you don’t have to try so hard. If you never called to pray with them, they would still love you. If you never invited them over for dinner, they would still love you. More than what you do, they sincerely love YOU. You have found favor in their eyes and it’s not based on what you do or don’t do.
God is the same way. Don’t try to work so hard to win the affection of a loving God that is already fully convinced of His love for you. Ease up on yourself dear and begin to enjoy the Lord, enjoy your life, and enjoy the relational treasures He has given you. They are rich blessings designed to enrich your life, not add sorrow to it.

Prayer: Father God, forgive me if I have frustrated Your grace. When I try hard to make others happy, I end up exhausted. Thank You for reminding me of Your love and grace. Keep me secure in Your love and enjoying the life and the people You have given me. In Jesus Name, Amen.

    1. Lord you have given me conformation to first love you then everything else will fall in place,Thank you Lord I love you.

  1. This is right on time. I was just thinking about how I’m tired of always being the only one who tries to pull the family together.

  2. I love you DOTK…..Your words come right from the heart of God. I know He will say to you all “Well done my good and faithful servants”β™‘

  3. Thank you Lord for loving me the way you do, root out in me anything that’s not of you and not like you for your honor and your glory.

  4. How true these words are. So many times we end up in a tug of war in our hearts and minds because our drive to show our love and please others spreads us so thin in so many different directions. You focus on one and another feels you have chosen one over the them. Your left not knowing how to make them understand that you love all of them. You feel like you should and need to be there for all of them which just creates more turmoil inside when you can’t be. Which !eaves no time for thinking about your own health and well being. Then comes Heavenly Father to say, “Get out of my way. Let go and let me have them. I know what is needed. I have a plan for them. But your heart still struggles with so many questions. Will they understand that I still love them so very much even if I can’t be there physically like I tried to be? What happened to taking the grandchildren to see the grandparents? Now if you want to see them you have to go to them. What will happen when we can no longer handle driving that far? Still Heavenly Father tells us to let go and let him handle it. We are only human. We are not God. Only complete faith in him can bring the changes we need spiritually and in our relationships to others. We have to focus on our relationship with him first. He knows the desires of our hearts and will grant them in his time. No one can please everyone in their lives. Only God can.

    1. Yes so true Annette. I have the same issues with the grandchildren. You’re right we can’t please them all. Only God truly can. And yes He does know those desires of our hearts..β™‘

  6. So true we just have to be a faithful friend, sincere in our ways not trying to please, when we please God in our relationships we can’t go wrong. Love is the strongest power there is. God is love!

  7. I so needed this. Akin to something I am experiencing. God’s grace is sufficient and if we trust He’ll give us all we need including healthy relationships. Lord help us to hear you walk according to your will. JER 29 V 11-13
