Are you constantly trying to change people?

“..work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” Philippians 2:12, ESV.

God called us to make a difference, not try to make people different. God called us to make a change, not try to change people. That’s His job. Let’s face it. We have a hard enough time trying to change ourselves, let alone someone else. If we can accept people the way they are and let God do the rest, we will live a more peaceful life. Don’t let your relationships be ruined because you’re constantly trying to change people. The truth is…

You can’t change:

• How people feel
• How they behave
• What they think
• What they believe in their hearts
• How someone lives their life

However, you can change:

• How you feel
• How you respond
• What you think
• What you believe in your heart
• How you live your life

Prayer: Father God, I ask forgiveness for any time I didn’t accept who you’ve accepted, and didn’t love who you love. Forgive me for any time I’ve tried to do your job of changing people. I’m not you. I humble myself right now and ask that you help me to focus on working on my self and let you work on others with your love, your power, and your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  16. This is so profound! I used to spend so much time wondering why my husband didn’t want to make more money to help us with the bills, why he just sat and looked at westerns and I was doing the trash, the car,, the garage, etc. and one day the Lord showed me that it was not him at all,!it was me who had the problem! I accepted any and every thing he did as if I was supposed to do it. I had a choice to put up with it or stop complaining because I was the one who needed to change. I’ve stayed in the relationship and continued to labor but now I look at me, not him because he will not change so I try my best to change and accept my lot in life with a spirit of working for the Lord, not for man!
