Are you the disciple Jesus loves?

“Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord.” John 21:7

I often think of how the disciples must’ve felt when John called himself the disciple whom Jesus loved. It was John who was always found lying on His chest. It was John who received the honor of caring for Mary before Jesus took his last breath on the cross. And it was John who Jesus said would not be martyred. He would die on the Island of Patmos after receiving the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Was it that Jesus loved John more than the others to receive this special treatment? Was John His favorite of the disciples?

Sometimes we look at other Christians and see how God blesses them and favors them. We can think to ourselves; God must love them more than He loves me. The truth is, God loves each one of us equally. However, each one of us isn’t enjoying Jesus equally. God gives the same amount of love to all of us, but we all aren’t receiving a full measure of that love, and our lives reflect it. I compare it to the sun. It shines brightly, emanating its rays, yet everyone isn’t enjoying it fully. Everyone doesn’t kick off their shoes and lay out in the sun, basking in its warmth.

God loves you just as much as He loves me or anyone else. He loves you with the same intensity and passion. But are you allowing yourself to bask in His love? God helps me receive His love in full measure and my life reflects that decision. Even when I feel like the complete opposite of a daughter of God, I receive a full measure of His love for me through Jesus. I believe I would’ve been like John, on His chest, enjoying His love and His presence. Are you the disciple Jesus loves? Your life will reflect your decision to receive His love in full measure.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for speaking to my heart. I love you, and I thank you for loving me. Right now, I receive by faith your love in full measure, and I pray my life reflects that decision in Jesus’ name.

(Scripture references: John 19:26-27; John 21:21-23; Revelation 1:9-11)

  1. Father God, I thank you for everything.
I realize that, I fallen short of your glory and I humbly ask for Your forgiveness. Please help me to be the disciple that you love. I will be so careful to give you all the praise honor and glory.
    It all belongs to you.
    Amen 🙏

  2. Yes, sometimes I feel like that, that God loves other people more than He loves me. But I know that is not the truth . So I’m learning how to bass in the fullness of His love for me and not focus on how somebody else life is basting in the fullness of His love as well. Thank you God for loving me and I am determined to let my life show that! God bless you WOG! ❤️

    1. I have felt this way, but in a different matter. I see how others follow and recieve His love so well and as used greatly by Him. I know he loves me the same as he loves them, that’s no question. But the thing I have been struggling with lately is knowing how to enjoy and recieve His love in full. I condemn myself too much and I know I shouldn’t. I have tried seeking Him in His Word, and in prayer, but lately its been so difficult. I have lack of focus and nothing sticks. As well lately everything confuses me and i don’t know why, this has never happened to me before. And i’ve been feeling discouraged lately.

      1. Mona, I Have seen lately, that worry brings discouragement. Jesus takes care of us, so there is no need to waste our time worrying. We all have times that God’s Word does not stick in our thoughts. That doesn’t mean that God’s Word is not true. Because you are a daughter of the King, God loves you unconditionally. You can rejoice because you have chosen God, and He loves you regardless of how you feel. Psalms 118 says time and time again, His love endures forever!
Whenever you are feeling low, open your Bible and read Ps 118 to yourself. Put you name in as you read. Replace Mona for I and me, the house of Mona for the hose of Israel… etc. This Word is for You! Hug yourself, and know that the hug comes from God!
        In Christ’s Love, Donna
