Ask yourself these three questions.

Ask yourself these three questions.

Whenever God uses me to counsel someone, I can always locate where they are spiritually by asking them three questions:

1. How’s your prayer life?
2. How’s your word life?
3. How’s your love life?

These three questions causes us to examine ourselves and can bring great spiritual accountability into our lives.

1. How’s your prayer life?

The Bible instructs us to pray without ceasing (see 1 Thessalonians 5:17). This doesn’t mean we are talking to God all day and not talking to anyone else. A strong prayer life means our hearts are turned towards God and His heart is turned towards us. It means a vital line of communication is open between us and the Father and we take advantage of it every opportunity we get.

2. How’s your word life?

The Bible tells us, “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” (see 1 Peter 2:2). A strong word life means you discipline yourself to get into God’s Word because you know it’s what we live by. A strong word life means your Bible isn’t a bookend on your bookshelf, but is a vital necessity to your growth in the Lord and a mighty weapon in your spiritual warfare arsenal.

3. How’s your love life?

The Bible says, “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you” (see John 15:12). A strong love life means who are serious about obeying God’s command to love because God is love. A strong love life is the greatest indicator of spiritual maturity because it shows God’s character is being developed.

When we strengthen these three areas it causes us to become a well-balanced believer, able to advance God’s Kingdom and produce great fruit in our lives for God’s glory.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for speaking to my heart. I pray you bless me to have a strong prayer life, a strong word life and a strong love life. Help me to advance your kingdom and to produce fruit for your glory. Help me Lord to be a well-balanced believer. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
