Be Christ-centered and people-focused!

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” Acts 10:38

I remember asking a close friend years ago how she was so thoughtful of others. I felt as though she was always thinking about ways to be a blessing to others while my mind was so focused on myself and my situation that I couldn’t think of anything to do to bless anyone. I tell you, God can help you become what you deeply admire in others. He will grow you up and help you receive the same understanding that produces the same blessed life they are enjoying.

The Lord began to teach me that being Christ-centered produces a people-focused life. To where you are sensitive to the needs of those around you and are led by God on ways to be a great blessing. If you want to come out of depression and being self-focused, let God help you focus on who you are in Christ and who He is in you. No matter how you feel and no matter what you’ve done, you are a daughter of God, you are redeemed by the blood of Jesus, you are a container of God’s goodness and glory, and you are a walking testimony of His grace! Because of Jesus, you are almost angelic, my friend, and you have something great and special to offer this world. Knowing this will help you become more Christ-centered and people-focused instead of self-focused. You will find yourself looking to do good and will enjoy being the blessing you were made to be!

Prayer: Father God, thank you for your wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Help me not be self-focused. Even when I don’t feel too great, or it doesn’t look like I have anything to offer anyone, I know that’s not true. I have Jesus, and because of you, I have so much to offer. Help me, Father, to live Christ-centered and people-focused. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. It’s amazing how sometimes when I haven’t gotten to this devotional yet and it’s something I need to hear, the title pops up as a reminder to read it on my phone screen. (It only happens sometimes). This morning when I was almost out of time before going to work up pops “Be Christ centered and people focused!” I so needed to be reminded of that today. Thank you!!
