Be satisfied with what you have!

“Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]” Hebrews 13:5, Amplified Bible

With the holidays upon us, it can be tempting to fall into a love of money. Avoid the trap. Your kids don’t have to have the latest game system, and you don’t need the latest iPhone. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are just another day. Be satisfied with what you have. God wants you to have things, but He doesn’t want things to have you.

Rather than putting unnecessary pressure on yourself to make everyone happy this season, strive to do what makes God happy. Give and be a blessing. Go and serve food to the homeless. Go and visit loved ones in the hospital or visit the elderly in the nursing home. Give food to a family in need. Spend quality time with family and friends and share God’s love. That’s the heart of Jesus. That’s what makes Him happy and it will ultimately make you happy too!

Prayer: Father God, I thank you for speaking to my heart and for redirecting my focus to what pleases you. Help me to not fall into a love of money this holiday season. It’s not about all the stuff. It’s about you, it’s about family, it’s about sharing your love and the gift of salvation with others. Thank you for the reminder. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. Great word because I always told my children when they was younger that them holiday was about family and friend’s to wake up on those special holidays and have a family reunion together with love and knows the best gift come from God’s Love for us all and then I teach my grandchildren the same it’s not about Black Friday or spending all that money it’s all about our Lord and savior Jesus Christ Amen ❤❤❤

  2. Yes it’s all about you Lord Jesus 💜 and We stand on your word ” To bring up our children in the ways of the Lord and when they are older they will not depart from them.” So again we declare as you say Father, and call those things that aren’t as though they are. Please pray for me my dear sisters, with my health and family issues the enemy is trying to bring heaviness to my heart, and I will not let him rob me of the precious reason for the season…Your gift of our savior. But I know that the Joy of the Lord is my Strength. Ty and blessings to all my DOTK sisters 💜

  3. In other words, you don’t have to buy in order to “give and be a blessing.” The best gift you have to give is yourself. Be a servant. Look for opportunities in your church and in the community. The best gift you can give your children or grandchildren is to spend time with them. Make time for them. Make hot chocolate & read stories together or play board games with them as you participate in conversation with one another. Quality family time is priceless. It builds a lifetime of memories. No amount of money can buy that. Be creative as you honor God with your time and the love that you share with others. Jesus is our role model & He gave us His all. No greater love than Jesus. Lord help us to be a blessing in word and deed. Jesus use us to be a gift that keeps on giving – for you honor & glory. Blessings to all DOTK this season and always.

    1. Amen Kat. Those are the only gifts of meaning we have given to our children and grandchildren. Yes for Jesus to use us to share His love💜Bless you dear sister

Remember awhile back a shared about a new group we formed at my Church The Willing Workers/Helping Hands..well our official name is..TTKB..Taking The Kingdom Back..With Love❤! Our very first real community project was on Thanksgiving..I wasn’t physically able to be there, but My TTKB Sisters held it down!! They fed those that were in need from the community at my Church & it was such a Blessing to give back! We have adopted a family for the holidays & will feed the community again for Christmas after Service..What a Blessing to be a Blessing! It also teaches the children to respect others & appreciate the the things they have..like to them something as small as a dinner roll..or a clean cup of water..some people don’t get that ALL THE TIME..THIS DAY WAS A BLESSING TO THEM..THIS IS ONE OF THE MANY REASONS WHY WE CALL IT..THANKSGIVING!
Lord, I Thank You for allowing me to be able help someone & teach my Grandchildren the value of giving back & community service.
Lord, Please Continue To Bless & Shine Your Light Of Love Upon Your Obedient Servant Sister Kesha, Her Awesome Team, This Amazing Ministry & My DOTK Sisters/Family💖!!
Be Blessed, Stay Humble & Encouraged!!!
Love Always, Your DOTK Sister In Christ, Wendy💕

  6. AMEN! Thank you Sister, for the LORD’S confirmation. I worked for a well known Department store chain for five years, and saw first hand the angst, and pain shoppers went through every year to buy temporary things. JESUS IS and will ALWAYS be the reason for season. It truly is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35). I pray for every believer and follower of our LORD and SAVIOR to keep the proper perspective as we celebrate and give from a pure heart motive. We love YOU FATHER, thank YOU for first Loving us. The earth is the LORD’S and the fullness thereof…

  7. That used to be me not to long ago…in the past two years I had to cutback on my frivilous spending. I have learned to dress down, do without, etc. It was terrible! What i did do was use crafting as Therapy, I looked thru all my junk (frivilous spending)& there it is, I walked the beaches picking up stones, shells, drift wood n asked permission from God, if I may use his jewelry for crafting ideas. Today, I don’t want more than I need.
I believe the Lord needed to teach me about being satisfied w what I had, to be grateful for what was in front of me. To make due…its a work in progress I have come a long way. The enemy tries to slip in “remember when U used to have….” I am glad to see the blessings given to others. I had my blessings that included materialistic value. My blessing n gifts today is being healthy to go outside n touch God’s creation, smells, see the bright colors of his heart, etc.
Having more is jus junk, it doesn’t satisfy, it’s cheaply made n expensive to fix. But God! keeps giving n giving U can never have enuff, n it never runs out…wow.
Love U FatherGod for all U have given me…lessons, especially the trials n tribulations that teaches my Spirit that it’s All about U. To live n love as U is the best gift I can give to another.
