Be satisfied with what you have!

“Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]” Hebrews 13:5, Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

With the holidays upon us, it can be tempting to fall into a love of money. Avoid the trap. Your kids don’t have to have the latest game system, and you don’t need the latest iPhone. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are just another day. Be satisfied with what you have. God wants you to have things, but He doesn’t want things to have you.

Rather than putting unnecessary pressure on yourself to make everyone happy this season, strive to do what makes God happy. Give and be a blessing. Go and serve food to the homeless. Go and visit loved ones in the hospital or visit the elderly in the nursing home. Give food to a family in need. Spend quality time with family and friends and share God’s love. That’s the heart of Jesus. That’s what makes Him happy and it will ultimately make you happy too!

Prayer: Father God, I thank you for speaking to my heart and for redirecting my focus to what pleases you. Help me to not fall into a love of money this holiday season. It’s not about all the stuff. It’s about you, it’s about family, it’s about sharing your love and the gift of salvation with others. Thank you for the reminder. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
