Deborah arose. So will you.

“In the days of Shamgar son of Anath,
and in the days of Jael,
people avoided the main roads,
and travelers stayed on winding pathways.
There were few people left in the villages of Israel
—until Deborah arose as a mother for Israel” Judges 5:6-7, New Living Translation.

Of all the women in Bible history, Deborah is the one I enjoy reading about the most. She was a judge, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, a Psalmist, and a poet in the 12 century B.C., and with God’s help, she delivered the people of Israel out of the oppressive hand of a cruel enemy so they could enjoy 40 years of peace and rest. Who says God can’t use women to lead powerfully and effectively? Who says women can’t create solutions to world problems while caring for the home? God can, He has, and He will continue to use women in great and mighty ways!

My sister, the Spirit of the Lord, is resting on you— the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and strength, the Spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord. And you will delight in the fear of the Lord. You will not judge by what your eyes see, and you will not decide by what your ears hear,…(see Isaiah 11:2-3) It is your time to arise and be all that you were created to be. You are part of God’s remnant, and you will do all He has purposed you to do. The glory of the Lord is risen on your life, and He has preserved you for this hour. Deborah understood the times in which she lived, and she received wisdom and grace from her God. So will you. You are growing in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and with man (see Luke 2:52).

Arise, daughter! Arise!

Prayer: Father, I am deeply humbled by your calling on my life. I accept it, and I choose to walk in it. Your enemy is my enemy, and your friend is my friend. What you hate, I hate, and what you love, I love. You have been looking to and fro throughout the whole earth to show yourself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are perfect toward you. I’m hidden in Christ, and He was perfect in every way. Father, use me as you did with Deborah. Help me fulfill your plan and be all you created me to be. Be greatly glorified in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. I love these Devotionals but in your prayer for today you stated “ the Lord has been looking to and fro … to show himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are PERFECTBtowards Him”but whose heart is perfect towards God? Nobody! I think He wants to show Himself strong for His people period, because we are His. If our hearts have to be perfect He won’t show for anyone because nobody has achieved that.
His perfect heart of love for us moves Him and our faith, but not a perfect heart or perfect anything for that matter..

    1. I believe the perfect heart for God is the heart that desires to repent of our sin and draw closer to the Lord AT ALL COST to ourselves. Not a heart that has achieved being sin free (perfection)! Just a thought.

  2. Biblical speaking her words are correct.

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭16:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    1. Thank You for Scripturally backing what was said about a perfect heart, we all strive for perfection, with the Holy Spirit living in and through us, without him we can’t have a perfect heart towards God our Creator. I say Amen!

  5. If we have acccepted Christ as our Savior, our hearts have been made perfect IN and THROUGH Jesus’ death on the Cross. Although none of us are perfect on this earth, Jesus has made our heart perfect TOWARD Him. Because our sins have been paid for on The Cross. In Jesus‘s eyes we have perfect hearts as we seek His face. Because Jesus is our Savior, He listens to our prayers. And we can have a intimate relationship with Him.
