Don’t do anything right away.

“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:19, New Living Translation.

When you are surrounded by needs and everyone you love is experiencing a financial crisis, your heart goes out to them. You want to do whatever you can to help because that’s how you are wired. But it would be wise to pause and not do anything right away. I know that doesn’t sound very Christian-like, but doing nothing allows you the opportunity to receive God’s wisdom and direction. It allows you the opportunity to see if God wants to provide for your loved one in a different way. It also allows them to pray and watch God come through for them, which strengthens their relationship with the Lord. If we allow every emergency to become our emergency, we risk making poor decisions.

When writing to the church at Philippi, the Apostle Paul said, “My God shall supply all of your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” He didn’t say, I’m going to supply all of your needs; he put the expectation on God. He had learned how to trust in Him and be content in whatever state he found himself in.

When people you love are in need, pause and receive God’s wisdom and direction. Don’t do anything right away. Don’t make any promises you can’t afford to keep. You’re better off saying, “You’re not alone in this situation. We’re going to pray and trust God together to supply all of your needs.” This takes growth and maturity, but with God’s help, we can do it.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for your wisdom. You wired me to help people and minister to the needs of others. But help me, Father, to pause and not rush ahead of you. Give me wisdom and direction in every crisis situation that comes my way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  2. Wow sis, this is proud and also is a confirmation to a topic I was discussing with a friend.
I’m a natural giver and often times I don’t think twice, but lately I realize my finance dried up, so here I was talking to God, and wondering where did I go wrong? To my surprise His respond was, I need to pause and listen before I give; because sometimes I get in His way. So I ask, get in Your way of what? And He said, at times the person haven’t learnt the reason for their situation yet, He want them to know that He is their source of everything and not man, at times He blesses them and they do not return as a result of such, their situation….my God oh how I wept and repented

  9. “You’re not alone in this situation. We’re going to pray and trust God together to supply all of your needs.” I sent this out as in a text to a family member that is in need of love. I pray that he receive it and that God’s will be done. In Jesus name. The enemy will not mess with my peace and with my family, I do not want to play God. God please allow me to be the best person I can be and to get closer to you so I will not feel like nothing is missing or broken.

  10. Christian women can become doormats because we are socialized to put others first much more than men are. Pausing and praying sounds like awesome advise since we are trained and wired to throw on our cape and help others.

  11. God has spoken!!

From God’s mind yo your heart to my spirit!!

Continued guidance, wisdom and protection Sis in Jesus mighty name 🙏🏾
