Don’t Let Your Passions Lead You

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Romans 8:14 (KJV)

In many of our lives, passion is often confused with the leading of God. We feel passionate about it, so we do it. We feel strong about a matter, so we say it. We are passionate about a cause, so we rally behind it. We are naturally passionate by nature and when our passion is strong, we can think that we have heard from the Lord and know exactly what to do. Thank God for passion, but it can bring disaster if we let it take the lead. Many have pursued career opportunities because they felt passionate about it, only to find that they didn’t enjoy it like they hoped.

While watching a truck stop in the road, a young girl noticed black smoke rising in the air. She said, “Look at all of that pollution and smoke. One day I’m going to do something about that.” She had discovered a passion within herself about a problem she wanted to help solve. Yes, she may very well put an end to pollution one day, or she may find that God has something else in mind for her to do.

There may be times when God may lead you to do something that you have zero passion for, but you will find that you enjoy it. He knows you best. So don’t let your passions lead you. Listen for the leading of the Holy Spirit in everything you do.

Prayer: Father, I ask that You help not to be led by my emotions or passions. Help me to be led only by Your Spirit. In Jesus Name, Amen.

  1. This is so true! I had been praying for God’s will in my life, for a job for years while I was recovering and on disability. While I was completing a rehabilitation program through the state to get me back into the work force, a really wonderful job opportunity came up that I couldn’t pass up: FT, full benefits, 401K, good pay and the job is something I didn’t have any interest in at the time but I couldn’t pass it up. The job was a non-profit helping people in discriminatory situations through Fair Housing. I’ve been there over a year now and I love going to my job everyday, I love my family at work, I love the work I do, I love touching people’s lives. I know that God directed me to this job and I pray everyday to turn my will and my life over to Jesus.

  2. I pray that God leads me in the right paths, all that is up against me,Help me to stay Humble,Promotion, prosperity,Health,Everything he has promised,I Shall Receive…….Thanks God🙏🙏

  6. Thank you for this timely word, it is sooo important not to be deceived by our emotions. We can so easily confuse our emotions or passions with the Holy Spirit because we confuse our feelings with the Truth. If we compare it with the Word and pray about it, we will be less likely to make mistakes. We really have to learn to walk in the Spirit habitually and not be led by the flesh. This would save us a lot of uneccessary pain and confusion. Our prayer should be to be continually submissive to the Holy Spirit our ears tuned to His voice to be obedient to His way. When we are in His perfect will we have peace in our hearts.

    2. We need a national day of pray. When everybody stops what they are doing just like 911. All of the United States prayed. Everyone stopped what they were doing. America is in emergency mode. STOP……STOP……STOP….. PRAY FOR OUR CHILDREN! Put banners on u car Windows. Satan is a defeated for. Put prayer on tv. On the radio. On internet. On Facebook. Bring back our children from Satan who is taking over our country. Children are being brain washed by Satan. We are a country who is being brought down by Satan. PRAY people. STOP being cowards by not letting our children PRAY in school. Get with it folks!

Lord, PLEASE allow my ears to stay tuned into Your voice only!! To ALWAYS be obedient to the Holy Spirit when it speaks to me. I’ve learned through my Christian Journey it’s not a “coincidence” or “something told me”..it’s the Holy Spirit speaking to me..we have get “in tune” with The Holy Spirit & it will guide, direct & lead you EVERY TIME with AMAZING RESULTS!!! You’ll find yourself saying…”Wow I was stressing for what?” Just like Jesus..that Holy Spirit is something serious. Acting on our emotions can get us in a world of trouble..we have to learn to tell it to Jesus..just like you would talk to your “friend” or whomever..talk to Him the same way..you know He won’t tell a soul..but He’ll listen to you & the Holy Spirit will guide you right on through!😉
