Don't let your sadness cause you to be disobedient.

“For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” 2 Corinthians 7:10, NKJV

One day I noticed my children fighting over their toys, so I stepped in to correct the behavior by temporarily taking their toys away. Oh they cried and cried. One of them even said they would die if they couldn’t have their toys back. I then gave them the instruction to prepare for bed and put on their pajamas. One immediately got up and did what I asked, while the other continued to cry and explode with grief and sadness. I told him, “Don’t let your sadness cause you to be disobedient. There’s a difference between good sorrow and bad sorrow.” As soon as I said that, the Lord began to talk to me about the responses of His people to His correction. When we do anything that displeases God and we experience the consequences of our actions, bad sorrow can cause us to disobey Him, while good sorrow causes us to be obedient and move forward.

There is a difference between good sorrow and bad sorrow. Don’t allow your sadness to cause you to be disobedient toward the Lord. Don’t allow your grief over what’s been lost to cause you to refuse to move forward and obey what He’s telling you to do. Respond properly and you’ll see healing and restoration in your life. Respond properly and you will see His salvation. We all deal with the consequences of our wrong choices, but how we respond is important. May the Lord help us all to be like my first son who, although he felt sad over what he’d done and what was taken away, he jumped up and obeyed.

Prayer: Father God, forgive me if I’ve responded wrong to your correction. I humble myself right now. Teach me to respond properly when I’m having to deal with the consequences of my wrong choices. Teach me to move forward and not backwards. I know you love me and even when I make a mistake, you are good and you’re already thinking of ways to restore me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    1. Amen! We serve an Awesome God..right on time..I got up this morning bothered by something I have been going through for months ..I talk with Lord and ask why want he hear my 😒 I have been talking with Him for so long about same thing..is this morning. I was tired of crying out with no response. .I said well I will handle it my self lord if you want ..I started.repenting. in advance. .I also cried because. I don’t want to be disobedient. .but I felt like God has turned. A def ear to me ..so I contaplated on going through with it but as I got out the house I felt a little different. .but still ready to go forward but not certain. .so I get to work ..I sir down I try and read every morning. .the post that are post to your sight very encouraging. .praise God for you women of God.so I open the app and so broad and Bold ..as the the Lord is reminding. Me don’t let your saddness cause you to be disobedient. .I felt guilt and sorrow but still hurt because. I don’t understand. When you are trying to stay on right path why do it take so long to get prayers answered ..but God knows I love Him and want to continue. Trying not to waiver..praying my strength in the Lord in Jesus Name Amen

      2. Please keep the faith and stay on the straight and narrow. I am one who has felt the consequences of not waiting on GOD before taking a step… I, also, however have experienced the grace of GOD when I waited and believed that he would bring me through any situation. I know it gets hard, but immerse yourself in something good. Don’t allow yourself to be idle. Do volunteer work, clean the house, re-clean the house…lol, read a book, or better, yet read your bible. Cover yourself with Faith in the Word. For GOD so loved the world that he gave his ONLY begotten son!

GM LADIES GOD IS GOOD !!!YES ,SO MANY TIMES I ALLOWED FOR SORROW TO TAKE PLACE BEHIND DECISIONS I MADE…MAN LET ME TELL U THE ENEMY WILL USE THAT TO MAKE IT WEIGH DOWN ON US SO MUCH MORE…BEFORE I KNEW IT I WOULD TURN AROUND AND MAKE THE VERY SAME MISTAKES AND BEATING MYSELF DOWN AGAIN….IT WAS A CONSTANT BATTLE OF LEARNING AND GROWING….BUT IT HAD TO START WITH ASKING WITH FORGIVENESS FOR MYSELF AND THEN FORGIVING MYSELF….I WOULD FEEL SO MAD AND FRUSTRATED WITH MYSELF THAT I DIDNT KNOW HOW TO LET THINGS GO AND MOVE FORWARD.I FELT STUCK…TILL ONE DAY A SISTER FROM OUR PRAYER GROUP SAID THAT THE LORD SHOWED HER HOW,,CLOSE YOUR EYES AND PICTURE YOURSELF HOLDING A BALLOON WITH A STRING.STAND OUTSIDE AND JUST RELEASE IT AND LET IT GO…WHAT DOES A BALLOON DO?IT FLOWS UP TOWARDS THE SKY..PRAISE THE LORD,JUST LET IT GO AND MOVE FORWARD. AND ALLOW GODS LOVE TO INTERVENE AND TO BEGIN TO RESTORE YOU FROM THE INSIDE OUT…WHEN HEALING TAKES PLACE WE WILL BEGIN TO SEE THINGS DIFFERENT AND UNDERSTAND HIS.   6. I was sitting on the couch and I feel VERY overwhelmed last night. I am so tired of things that are happening in my life. I just couldn’t stop crying. I really wanted to end it all. I go to church, I read my bible. I help others. I pray. I worship. I tithe. I fast. I am celibate. I don’t do drugs. I don’t understand why I am not prospering. I seek God always. It’s been a little over 10 years. I don’t know how much longer that I can hold on. I’m losing my grip. GOD PLEASE HELP ME!

    I choose to respond in obedience & honor God, no matter how I feel or think. God is Sovereign & certainly knows best.
