Don’t miss God in the wilderness.

“Then the whole congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness” Exodus 16:2, NKJV.

“And you shall remember that the LORD your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart…so He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.” Deuteronomy 8:2 -3, NKJV.

The Israelites complained to God in the wilderness. They pondered whether it would have been better to remain in Egypt than on their journey to their Promised Land. They thought God was delivering them out of Egypt, but He was getting Egypt out of them. They thought God was delivering them from outward circumstances, but the core of God’s desire was to mold them into who he called them to be.

Be careful in your journey. Be careful of complaining in your wilderness experience because you can miss God. His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. He’s getting everything out of us that keeps us bound and immature. You may ask God for a future mate when God is working on you to make you a blessing for that future mate. You may be looking for God to give you a blessing when God is making you into one. We can be trying to get to a Promised Land when God is trying to become all we need, so whether you get what you want or not, you still trust him.
Be encouraged not to harden your heart. Humble yourself to what He wants to do in you, and watch him bring great things to pass.

Prayer: Father, thank you for speaking tough to me today. I’m closer to great things in my life than I realize. Help me not to miss you now. Even where I am in my life, I humble myself and soften my heart. Your will be done in me. I will trust you. I declare I will enter a promised place for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
