Faith and Patience

“So that you will not be [spiritually] sluggish, but [will instead be] imitators of those who through faith [lean on God with absolute trust and confidence in Him and in His power] and by patient endurance [even when suffering] are [now] inheriting the promises” Hebrews 6:12, Amplified.

My three-year-old son can be very impatient. When he wants something, he will say, “Mommy, I want it right now!” I just laugh, and say no baby; you’re going to have to wait. He hates waiting. Now, my 14-year-old daughter, when told to wait on something will say, ok Mom. She may not want to wait, but she understands that I love her, and she has experienced waiting and receiving what I’ve promised her.

With this in mind, we can understand this scripture. We are told to imitate or follow those who through faith and patience, inherit the promises of God. Maybe there are people in your life that have received and are enjoying what you are believing God for. As you grow in your relationship with the Father, you will begin to see how deeply God loves you and will have experience with waiting and receiving what He’s promised. Just like my three-year-old son will learn to imitate my oldest daughter if he wants to receive, you will have to imitate those who through faith and patience receive God’s promises.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for giving me understanding. Help me not take matters into my own hands through impatience. Help me to have the right attitude while I wait for you to do what you promised. Help me learn how to trust you and wait. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    1. Thank you Lord Jesus, just when I think I can’t take anymore or I’ve had enough & take things in my on hands. You send someone with your word of understanding, peace to comfort me. So I say thank you Lord 🙌🏾

  1. God’s will is not our will, God’s ways are not our ways, God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, God’s time is not our time…they that wait on the LORD shall renew their strength they will mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not faint! It’s not just waiting it is the WEIGHT as I wait! Spirit vs Flesh. Ideal vs Reality! Although he slay me yet will I trust him!

    1. Thank you! This is so on point. The “weight in waiting” is usually what causes me to take matters into my own hands and fail. I must trust in Him at all times. God bless!

  2. Lord, please renew my strength as I wait on You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

    Blessings, Shalom and Agape.

  4. The last few days God has really been speaking to me through your devotionals. We have been fostering to adopt a child and we lost him yesterday. Another family was ahead of us to adopt him. God has been my strength and just getting affirmation through these studies have been so helpful. Thank you for listening to the Lord and writing these. No matter what I am going through that day when I read your devotional it is exactly what I need to hear. So I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. God bless you!💙

  5. Yes🤗 Heavenly Father I receive these words of comfort. Your always on time; just when I need assurance. I stated earlier that though I didn’t receive the outcome I hoped for, that i thank You for this very situation even though I’m deeply hurt, I will suffer for you with Joy. Knowing that You love me and I walk by Faith wholeheartedly trusting You and that We already won. Glory be to God😍Thank you Jesus
