Faith comes by hearing.

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” Romans 10:17, NKJV.

In my life, my biggest weakness was not knowing my identity and who I am. Because I didn’t know who I was, the enemy tried to make his own suggestions, and had me believing all sorts of things about myself. But when I grabbed hold of God’s Word and began meditating on scriptures that reveal my true identity in Christ, the enemy couldn’t get me anymore in that area. The only thing strong enough to combat a lie is truth.

James 4:7 says that we must submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee. Many of us know how to submit to God, but many don’t know how to resist the enemy. You resist the enemy by taking a stand against his lies. How do you do that? You tell him, “That is not true and I resist you in the name of Jesus.”

Being a Christian doesn’t mean you must be passive and receive whatever toxic words that are spewed out at you. It doesn’t matter if it’s a spouse, a relative or anyone else. You don’t have to receive anything that is contrary to the Word of God. You can gently, but firmly say, “No, that’s not true and I don’t receive it.”

Let the truth of God’s Word be what you hear and receive. Declare God’s words from your mouth loud enough so you can hear yourself in your ears. Reject the words of the enemy, and receive God’s words of life. Receive only what God has said about you. Mutter His words from your lips as you lay down to sleep. Think on His words throughout your day. As you do this, your faith will grow and you will become immovable.

Always remember, if faith comes by hearing God’s word, doubt comes by not hearing it.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for speaking to me in a way that I can understand it. I submit to you and I resist the enemy. I reject every lie that he has spoken in my ears, and I receive the truth of your Word. In the name of Jesus. Deepen my faith in you Lord and help me grow as I speak your words from my lips. Let your words become a part of me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  4. This devotional is so good for me. I am continually battling the thoughts of insecurity in my mind. I am trying to defeat low self esteem through Christ Jesus. Thank you Sis. Kesha. Blessings, Shalom and Agape.🙏🏽❤🙏🏽❤🙏🏽❤

  5. Thank you Kesha for bringing out God’s truth. My husband and I saw this written on a car window that was driving in front of us. It said: “NOT TODAY SATAN!” I loved it.
It’s so simple, I thought about it several times. It’s a good sentence to remember and say often during the day!

  6. Thank you Lord for revealing your truths to me through your word! The book of Ephesians is a great reminder of who Jesus says we are! We are loved, we are chosen, we are made with a purpose, we are accepted because we are saved by his blood,we are redeemed through his sacrifice and so much more! The devil will tell you lies and get you off track he does it to me all the time and Jesus comes through and his spirit lets us know we are made to endure keep going I’ve got a blessing on the other side of all this! So thankful for everything! I know my family is growing closer to the Lord and that’s an answered prayer I’ve been praying for about 7 years. I’m very thankful! In the name of Jesus I pray for their deliverance and their victory I love you Jesus

  7. I was brought up to think Jesus was meek and turned cheek so I should accept abuse quietly etc. One of many reasons Christianity was a turn off.
Fun fact: turning the other cheek refers to being mildly insulted not a hard physical blow. In the culture at the time, being ‘smite on the cheek’ is equivalent of mild insult that isn’t worth getting upset over n wasting energy.
So much we are taught by pastors and churches are lies. The traditions of men which Jesus has entire chapter of a pure rant. “Breed of vipers” he refers to such pastors. Also you should not call a pastor “father” or “pastor” for example. And tithes for designer suits and luxury cars is pure satanic.
Anyhoo thank you for being a drop in ocean telling us the truth. Very much needed. Ppl not knowing Jesus because all they have heard is lies. Most ppl in some countries believe Jesus didn’t exist even, that Bible is pure fiction. U have to school them they have no clue atall and not their fault truthfully.

  8. So timely this devotion is! Perplexed by a venomous email from ex last night, I stood my ground knowing those poison filled words were not me. Reading this devotion confirms those words were from the enemy and attempts to shake me, but I will remain strong on my faith and know that The Good Lord sees me as His child and He will continue to protect me from the evil one.
