I Refuse to Worry

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6-7, NKJV.

People are worrying about what is going to happen with the US presidential election. Worrying about the economy. Worrying about what is happening in the world. Worrying about our children and their well-being, and the list goes on. It is as if worrying is at an all time high right now, and God doesn’t want that to be how His people are responding. He doesn’t want us to be consumed with cares like the world is. He wants us to trust Him. No matter what is going on around us, we need to make a decision that we are going to trust God because He is in control, even when everything seems out of control.

While everyone else is full of care and worry, this is a great opportunity to be an example. Somebody could easily ask you, “Why aren’t you worrying. Why aren’t you frantic like everyone else. You must know something that I don’t know.” We know that we are in this world but we’re not of it. We know that we are citizens of God’s kingdom. We know that God is with us and we don’t have to fear.

I challenge you to come out from among the world and be separate. Have a different response. Have a different talk. Let your attitude be one of confidence in God. Let your trust in God set you apart from everyone else around you. Don’t give into the temptation to worry or fear. Trust God.

Prayer: Father God, I pray that You will remove all worry from me right now. Help me trust You. Help me be a light and an example. You are in control. Keep my eyes fixed on You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  5. Today I watched a video sermon about Peter asked Jesus to ask him to walk on water he did walk with no problem when he looked at Jesus. But the scripture said he saw the storm and he started to sink. I get it now. Today this lesson just resonated with me so well. I just have to fix my eyes on Jesus. Thank you Lord. Bless you for your words of encouragement.

  8. Thank you for the timing of this devotion! This week has been really tough and I let my anxieties about grandsons, my husband, death in family over-ride my trust in my Savior! I know He already knows my concerns
& i just need to cast all my burdens and concerns onto Him! He is definitly on the throne & though i keep praying about the concerns.. I truly need to ask once then leave it in His merciful hands! He has a plan.. It ALWAYS works for our good and our trials will reap blessings when I stop worrying about what I have put into His hands! So proud yo be a daughter of the King!
I just don’t believe in you my Savior,…I BELIEVE YOU & IN ALL YOUR PROMISES! I glorify & praise you, my God!
