Let more and more love in.

“Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion.” Psalm 103:4

While talking with my 16-year-old daughter about depression and suicide, she shared with me that she woke up in tears feeling great empathy for families that are experiencing pain from losing someone to suicide. “Didn’t they know they were loved?” She asked. Her middle name is Love, and she is the epitome of her name. What I shared with her may help you also if you are trying to understand. You can be surrounded by all of the love in the world, but it’s not the love that surrounds us but the amount of love we let in that makes the difference. Some only let 1% of love in. Even though they are surrounded by so many people who love and genuinely care for them, they still feel unloved and believe their existence does not matter.

With the unconditional love of my Father, He has helped me open my heart a bit more everyday to receiving the pure and intense love that surrounds me. No one knows I was operating on 1% for years because of a deep fear of abandonment that began from birth. But thank God, I have grown tremendously, and now I am at about 20% and that number is increasing. It feels so good to let love in and let myself receive people’s affection for me. The joy I have is unexplainable because of the work Jesus Himself has done and is continuing to do in my heart and mind.

My sister, when you pray for anyone dealing with depression, anxiety, and deep-rooted fears, pray specifically that God opens their eyes to see His love for them and opens their heart more and more each day to receive the pure love that surrounds them.

Prayer: Father, only your love can cast out any fear of rejection, any fear of abandonment, and any fear of not being enough. Help me, Father, and help my loved ones to receive more of the pure and intense love that surrounds us. Continue to do a beautiful work in our hearts and minds. I plead the blood of Jesus over myself, and everyone connected to me. Thank you, Father, with long life you will satisfy us and show us your salvation. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

  1. This devotional touched my heart. Lord, touch the hearts of those who feel unloved. They are being deceived by satan. Lord, pour Your love into their hearts, and let them know that Your love is real and will be sustained as they seek Your face through Your Scriptures, devotionals, and time spent alone with You in Your presence. We thank You Lord, in advance for the answer to this prayer. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
