Let the truth of God’s Word settle you.

“Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven,” Psalm 119:89, NASB.

“And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always]” Colossians 3:15, Amplified.

When your mind and emotions are full of care and worry, there’s only one thing that can settle you—the truth of God’s Word. When everything in our lives crumble, His Word stands firm. When we feel sad, angry or uncertain about the future, His Word stands firm. When everything seems shaken, His powerful truth stands firm like a rock. So let the truth of God’s Word settle you. Let it settle your mind, and your emotions. Let Him minister peace to your heart. I challenge you right now to focus on a scripture from God’s Word and speak it out loud. See how His Word will bring you back into focus and calm your emotions. God wants to settle you today!

Prayer: Father, I know that my emotions have been full of care and concern. You are my Father and you love and care for me. I know your Word is settled forever in heaven. I ask that your Word will settle me right now. Settle my emotions, and my mind as I focus on you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. This is a beautiful devotion today. The scriptures that I love to meditate on that give me peace are:

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
    Philippians 4:6‭-‬7 KJV

  8. Amen! The scripture that immediately came to my mind is Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

(NIV) For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

    Thank you Father God!

  9. Amen. Anxiety can be horrible but at the end of the day we can only guarantee that God has our backs. So we gotta prioritize our relationship with him. People and institutions fail all the time. We can be in much danger sometimes also. When push comes to shove there’s zero guarantees of anyone being there for us, reliable, except Jesus. I’ve experienced this. Made me learn the hard way to lean on Him. Don’t be stubborn and need teaching the hard way, is my two cents.
