My sister, we win when we are grateful.

“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” Psalm 9:1

About a month ago, I left this note for my husband on top of one of his favorite slushy drinks. He has kept it on his desk ever since. It reads, “I love you, my handsome king and I’m so very thankful for ALL you do.”

Over the course of this month, he has been doing the sweetest things that I enjoy. Tending to me, taking me out, loving on me. Maybe it wasn’t the note that caused him to become even more loving. Maybe it was my gratitude that helped me see more clearly.

Whether in our marriage, our families, our friendships or our relationship with the Lord. We win when we choose to be deeply grateful for the people God has placed in our lives. This is what makes our lives rich and meaningful.

Leave a note for your husband thanking him. Send a message to your children that expresses your gratitude for them. Leave a card for the sister at church who prayed you through that rough ordeal. Go into your time of prayer with the Lord and be moved to tears for what He did for you on the cross.

This doesn’t mean you ignore issues that must be addressed, but make sure your gratitude is expressed much more.

Prayer: I love you my great and mighty King. I’m so very thankful for all you’ve done for me. You’ve washed me clean. You’ve made me yours. You’ve come to live inside of me. You’ve blessed me in so many ways. Thank you, Lord! I don’t even look like what I’ve been through because of your goodness and mercy. What a great Lord and Savior you are. Fill me with overwhelming gratitude today. Let gratitude be the permanent lens by which I see everyone and everything. In your name I pray, Amen.
