Receive God’s Correction

“…My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; for whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives…” Hebrews 12:5-6, NKJV.

I remember as a young girl I hated wearing coats. Dressed in my t-shirt and skinny bare arms, I braved the cold weather because I was tough and didn’t think I needed a coat. Each morning on the way to school, my mother would ask, “Kesha, where’s your coat?” My response was always, “I forgot it.” I didn’t forget, I simply didn’t want to wear it. So one morning, after a week or two of “forgetting” my coat, she took all of my siblings to school and took me back home. I thought we were about to do something fun–a mother and daughter day– yayyy! But little did I know, I was about to get a whipping! Why? Because she loved me and didn’t want to see me become sick from not wearing my coat!

Let’s just say, I never forgot it again.

As any loving parent, God corrects His daughters because He loves us dearly and don’t want to see us sick, experience harm or going through anything unnecessarily. Instead of ignoring Him, humble yourself and do what He says. He has your best interest in mind and loves when you are walking in your destiny and living the life Jesus purchased for you to live.

If you are experiencing correction from God, say this from your heart, “Yes Lord. I humble myself right now. I receive Your love and Your correction. Help me learn to trust in Your wisdom and Your way. Help me to see when You’re trying to stop me from making a terrible mistake. Draw me close to Your side in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
