Renew Your Vow

After a couple has been married for several years, they sometimes experience a dry spell. It’s when they go through a season in their relationship when their fire isn’t burning as strong as before, and they have allowed other things to enter in and take their minds off of strengthening their marriage. In a similar way, we are in a covenant relationship with God our Father, and while His love always burns passionately for us, sometimes our love for Him wanes. While He has never left us, sometimes we leave His side and drift away. He is always thinking about us more than the number of sand on the seashore, but we can reach a point when He doesn’t cross our mind at all during the day (see Psalms 139:17-18).

If this describes your relationship with God, it is time to renew your vow and commitment to Him.

We find in 1 John 1:9, God says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” God is faithful and true, and He is always standing there with open arms, ready to receive us again. He will forgive you and cleanse you of all unrighteousness. He will love you like you never did anything wrong. That’s the nature of our God! When you truly understand His love and His grace, you will never want to backslide another day in your life. You’ll want to live to please Him because of His unconditional love for you.

Please say this prayer with me if you are ready to renew your vow and commitment to the Father:

Prayer: Father God, I come to you asking your forgiveness for leaving your side. Forgive me, God. I turn away from sin, and I turn to you. I say “no” to the devil, and I say “yes” to you! I want our relationship to be like it was when I first knew you. Restore me, Lord. I surrender to you completely. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Help me to love you with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. Let my relationship with you be more important than any other relationship in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  4. So important so easy to be distracted and be led astray or be deceived! Then when if we are not careful we hear, you are lukewarm I spit you out of My mouth, we realize we never knew or really paid attention to the Word. We have to be awake and alert to not go into a ‘slumber or sleep’ in our Love walk with God. He loves us so much!!

  5. Morning, thank you for this, just this morning l was telling God, not to go far from me. I try to read every morning and sometimes l feel like l am not getting anywhere with my prayer life or reading time. This morning l am feeling lost and alone, there is no reason for this because l know my Father will not leave me nor forsake me. Gotta shake this feeling! Ya’ll have a blessed day!
