Slow down, my sister!

“But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him” Hebrews 11:6, Amplified.

I know you’re excited to fulfill your purpose, but God didn’t call you to try to accomplish everything in a year. God wants to make you rich in experiences. He is showing you how to have life that is abundant. In the Western world, we are mostly in a hurry. We are a busy people, constantly pursuing, attaining, launching and possessing. We accomplish one feat and we are on to the next one with no time to set apart to process what God has just done or to receive instructions from Him. We become like Joshua at the Battle of Ai. After God delivered the city of Jericho into his hands in such great and glorious style, he assumed the city of Ai would be no different. He didn’t seek God for His way, His plan, or His instructions and was chased down the mountain by the men he and his army went in to defeatβ€”their hearts melting like water. After the public humiliation, he cried out to God and God gave him instructions and victory. The secret to success in God is in our constantly seeking Him. He tells us that when we diligently seek Him, we shall be rewarded. Our reward is victory. Our reward is Him being glorified in our lives. So let’s slow down my sister. Do we want busy or do we want effective? Do we want constantly trying our own methods, or do we want God to be glorified? I believe, if you’re like me, we want effectiveness. We want God to be glorified in everything we set out to do by His grace. We want total victory. We want to please Him and the only thing that pleases Him is our faith, which comes by hearing what He wants us to do and doing itβ€”nothing more, nothing less.

Prayer: Yes, my Lord. I hear you loud and clear. Yes, I love being on fire for you. I love doing what you’ve called me to do, but help me to slow down and receive instructions from you. Help me to do nothing in my own ability. I am desperately and hopelessly dependent upon you. I want effectiveness, not busy. I want victory and for you to be glorified. Help me to consistently seek you and not lean to my own understanding. Thank you Lord for this precious blessing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

      1. This is a confirmation. This is where I am right now. About a week ago, God spoke these two words to my heart “Slow down.” After many years of stagnation in too many areas, I started to see progress. The progress was like rainfall on a dry and thirsty land. Soon, I became greedy and wanted more progress and have been trying to make things happen. Of course, now just when things are happening, my kids are coming home for the summer. To my fast mind, this will delay me again. However, God does want me to be rich in experiences. I need to balance out my work with trips and fun things done with the kids and fellowship with friends. In my haste to accomplish things…I just want to rush right through to get to those moments of glory.
