Stay By the Fire

Stay By the Fire

“Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.” Matthew 24:12 (NLT)

“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.” James 4:8 (NLT)

When it is cold outside we naturally turn on the heat to keep ourselves warm. We cover ourselves with blankets and gather by the fire. We do what we can to protect ourselves from being affected by the harsh climate.

It is bitter cold in the world today and sin is rampant. With the actions of many people being uncharacteristic of God, what are we doing to keep our love from growing cold? We must draw near to God and let Him draw near to us. If you don’t stay close to the spiritual warmth of God’s love and deepening your knowledge of Him, you will allow situation and circumstance to offend you and cause you to fall away.

The colder it is in the world, the more you must run to the Fire of God’s Word and receive His truth, receive His understanding and His Spirit. Let His peace flow in and through you like warm liquid. Refuse to sit and remain offended with anyone. Doing this will keep the enemy out and keep God’s love in.

You don’t have to side with the world. Everyone will have their opinion of why someone is behaving the way they are, but you, let God show you the deeper meaning. In all your getting get understanding. Understanding and love are directly proportional. The more understanding you have from God about someone, the better you can relate to them. Let God bless you with understanding so that you can love better in this day and time. Draw close to Him and He will turn on the heat in your heart and increase your love capacity. It is cold outside. Stay by the Fire.

Prayer: Father, thank You for speaking to me. It is cold and dark in this world. I draw near to You. Enlarge my heart and keep my love warm God. Don’t let me grow cold and callous. Help me stay by the warmth of Your presence and in Your Word. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and be glorified in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  5. This is an on time word for me. I have been going through a lot lately and I could feel my heart growing cold and numb. The Fire of God has dwindling down and that’s from letting the chaos around me distract me from being close to Father God. I thank God Almighty for you and I will return to the Fire that keeps me alive in this world. I thank you again in the name of Jesus Christ.
    Shalom

  6. This is so true! I so need and long to be closer and closer to my Savior. Please Father don’t let my heart grow cold and callous, bitter and hard. I need you to fill me with YOUR love.

  7. This speaks to me because I’m in a situation where my future mother in law has deliberately offended me so many times and has shown that she doesn’t care. She apologized once and it was a sorry excuse of an apology as well. Her behavior is kind of dangerous so I don’t want her near my 3 month daughter. I lived with her for like 7 months so I know how she really is. I know I need to forgive her so I wont have so much negativity in my heart but it’s seriously hard. She doesn’t want to change and I know she won’t for now. I feel like I can forgive her but hold her at arms length since I’m also considering my daughter’s well being.

  8. Great message! It can become quite frustrating trying to get others to see it as we perceive, but when it’s God speaking and not us, we can walk away knowing that the understanding will not come from us but from God without any errors in the message!
