Stay true to who you are.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” Ephesians 2:10, NLT.

Years ago, while spending time with my daughter, I began to write down the areas of my life that God had given me to be a blessing in the earth. I listed: women’s ministry, family, music, art, books, and business. Then my daughter came and sat next to me, “Mommy, you forgot to add ‘Friends’”, she said. “God wants us to spend time with our friends.” Then she instructed me to write it at the very top. Tears began to well up in my eyes because I knew she was right. What she didn’t know was that I didn’t forget. I excluded it on purpose. The Lord was using her to minister to my heart because I was beginning to give up on one of the most meaningful areas of my life—friendship.

When things happen, it can cause us to change into what we hate. Don’t let negative situations change who you are. You will be miserable if you do. Stay true to who you are.

I had to make a decision to stop trying to change myself based on experiences, and be who God made me to be—a gifted encourager and a friend.

No matter what the enemy has tried to do in distorting your views based on your experiences, take a firm stand against him and be who God made you to be.

Prayer: Father God, thank You. You always know how to minister to me right where I am. You see into my heart and know the hidden desires there. Thank You for caring for me as much as You do. I love You. Forgive me for trying to change who I am. You created me, formed and fashioned me. I am fearfully and wonderfully made by You. I pray that You renew my mind and correct every distorted view I have on life. Help me stay true to who I am in You. In Jesus Name, Amen.

  3. I could not have needed this at a more better time. Thank you so much Sis. Kesha. I will be who I am and not try to fit into who everyone judges me to be. The Lord will complete His good work within me. Thanks again. Blessings, Shalom and Agape.🙏🏽❤🙏🏽❤🙏🏽

  4. What an on time word of encouragement and reminder! This is so true we allow life experiences to change our true nature of who we are! I’ve told one of my daughters this many times to stay true to who she is. Not to allow hurts, disappointments ect to change her. She’s such a giving, loving & encouraging person! I’m so excited to share this devotional with her as I pray she allows it to penetrate & spark her!

  5. Your daughter is awesome bless her.
I don’t think we can go back to who we were prior to traumas. But we can try I guess. Iono

  6. I’ve heard this from TDJakes, “become the person you were born to be”. I say after you’ve been born again walk in your new life with Christ.

  7. I wish kids in junior high and high school would hear this devotional. It would have saved them a lot of grief growing up. If we stay true to ourselves, instead of questioning ourselves, we would have been comfortable in who are. Praise God that He is in my life now and He encourages me to walk His path.

  8. Thank you for this. I constantly look at these Devotionals for support and it seems they are always on time. Sisters I’m in need and have been struggling these past few days. Literally crying these last 3 days because I’ve been feeling overwhelmed, heart broken and depressed. I have been praying and reminding myself that God got me and that this is only a test. I don’t want sympathy, just people who genuinely care. I’m a single mother struggling to pay rent and my car payment this month. I have .10 cent in my bank account. God has certainly been good to me but I know He is not finished and has a lot more work to do with me. I have peace because I know He is with me. The enemy has been trying so hard to keep me down by entering negative thoughts into my mind and trying to get me to think I’m alone. But God! At times all I can do is cry. I haven’t eaten much and haven’t really slept in 3 days either. I was laid off from my job last month that I’ve been at for 4 years (working with at risk youth in a mental health facility). I’m not a victim, just trying to get myself together because I have a son to support. I’ve always had a problem speaking up and asking for help but I feel like God is telling me that’s what I need to do. I pray He places in the heart of those who are able and willing to help me financially. Anything will help. In return I will request in prayer that He blesses those who blessed me in my time of need. Even if you can’t help but took the time to read this, thank you so much and may God bless you and yours ❤️
I can also use words of encouragement. My family is a bit dysfunctional and I don’t have a friend to talk to so please feel free to offer words of encouragement and support as well. Peace, love and blessings ❤️

  11. Wow. Really needed this, recently my life has transitioned, and it was brought to my attention that due to my transition, it’s allowed me to be neglectful. I’m praying that those who call me a friend, who truly know me—be patient & gentle with me during this time. Understanding as well, that I am just trying to get a grasp on these new changes that God has brought into my life, and although I may be distant at times, due to the way my life is now setup, I am not gone. Thank you for this word.

  12. An on-time Word indeed!

Have a situation today, needed an answer… and this was it right here.

Reminder 4 me 2 continue to be the encouager that I am despite the behaviour of others. I am to continue to shine my light in the midst of unfair situations.

God bless you richly, Sis 🌻💕🙏🏽
