God is helping you develop a soft heart and thick skin.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered…” 1 Corinthians 13:4-5, Berean Study Bible.

I’m just going to say it. My sister, how can we enjoy the relationships God wants to place in our lives if no one can say anything to us without our feelings being hurt? How is anyone going to sharpen us if we get upset by the smallest amount of criticism? How are we going to go into all the world preaching the gospel if we are crying the moment we discover someone doesn’t like something about us? It is good to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. It is good to be sensitive to the needs of others. But being easily offended by words is not good.

Let your resolve be that any criticism of you has absolutely no power to destroy who you are to the Lord. You are His daughter and nothing can seperate you from His love. Anything harmful done against you has absolutely no power to ruin God’s divine purpose and plan for your life (see Isaiah 54:17). You will do everything He has called you to do by His grace. The Lord has you covered at every side with an impenetrable shield and He is with you and He is for you (see Psalm 5:12). He will help you keep your heart soft and tender towards Him and others and will help you develop thicker skin so you can continue with His purpose and plan come what may.

Prayer: Father God, keep my heart soft and tender before you and tender towards others, and help me develop thicker skin so that every criticism doesn’t hurt so much. Let the truth you’ve declared over my life be all that matters. You are my loving Father and I am who you say I am. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
