Thick Skin and a Soft Heart

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered…” 1 Corinthians 13:4-5, Berean Study Bible.

I’m just going to say it. My sister, how can we enjoy the relationships God wants to place in our lives if no one can say anything to us without our feelings being hurt? How is anyone going to sharpen us if we get upset by the smallest amount of criticism? How are we going to go into all the world preaching the gospel if we are crying the moment we discover someone doesn’t like us? It’s good to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. It’s good to be sensitive to the needs of others. But being easily offended is not good.

Let your resolve be that anything harmful said about you has absolutely no power to destroy who you are to the Lord. Anything harmful done against you has absolutely no power to ruin His divine purpose and plan for your life (see Isaiah 54:17). You are who God said you are, and you can do everything He has called you to do. The Lord has you covered at every side with an impenetrable shield and He is for you (see Psalm 5:12). He will keep your heart soft toward Him and will help you develop thicker skin so you can continue with His purpose and plan no matter what.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for softening my heart and helping me develop thicker skin. I forgive everyone who has hurt me and I bless them. Give me the right perspective and wisdom so I can handle difficult people and difficult circumstances with style and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  2. Thank you for allowing Gods word to flow through your heat to my ears and to believe what God told me to do was truth
Yesterday I sent your devotional to a family member and spoke some words God shared with me to tell her
I have not spoken words or sent Devotionals to anyone in the past 3 years as God had been work with me behind the scenes
Just as your past devotional spoke about
    So she was easily offended
I couldn’t say sorry cause it was Gods truth spoken to her she was crying I spoke in love and gentleness in humility
So I can say thank you for sharing His word with me
I do appreciate your obedience and sacrifices you do to share Gods truth with us
    Amen πŸ’•
