We were made for relationships!

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear…” 1 John 4:18, NKJV.

Jesus could have easily come to earth, completed His assignment and went to heaven to sit down next to the Father. He didn’t have to choose disciples to invest time with. He didn’t have to have relationships with anyone. Yet, He chose to give of Himself to others and let them come close enough to be impacted by Him. Likewise, we’re not called to simply come here, complete our purpose, go to heaven and that’s it. We were made for relationships, and it started with our Father God. He didn’t have to make us, but He did so that we can have a relationship with Him and with others.

If Jesus didn’t isolate Himself from people, neither should we. He knew He would be betrayed, denied, and abandoned by His friends, but He still chose to have them in His life. Friendship is risky, but worth it. Our love must be greater than our fears. So many of us live with fear of being hurt or fear of hurting, so we avoid close and intimate relationships with anyone. But what if Jesus feared being hurt, disappointed or used? What if He feared hurting His disciples? If He operated in fear, we would not have such a great example to model.

We know Jesus loves us and will never leave us, but sometimes we can’t say that about people. Even if you’ve never experienced unconditional love from a human being, don’t let that stop you from being what you desire to see. Make a choice to receive God’s perspective on relationships. Choose to have an impact on those God has placed in your life. You were made for relationships!

Prayer: Father God, I repent for drawing away from people. I’m afraid of being of hurt. I’m afraid of hurting others. I ask that You help me overcome this fear with Your love. Help me God to see relationships the way You see them. You’ve given Your love to me so freely, and it’s wrong for me not to give it away. Thank You for giving me an example to follow. Help me not be so purpose-driven that I forget my real purpose to love and have a relationship with people. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. Amen Thank you for delivering God’s purposes love for us reader and to the relationship with people give God real Love in spite of their behavioral ❤🙏🏽❤

  2. When we fear people and shrink from loving others, there is a reason behind it. Living under abuse destroys our ability to trust and feel safe to love others. We need to recognize why we fear love, take the problem to our Father, and work with Him on healing. He understands. As we heal, reaching out to others will become natural because His love becomes our new standard of love to work from.

    1. Good morning, I needed this post this morning. I have been saying since February 2018 that I was going to refrain from getting in relationships because of the different kinds of abuse from men and women and to protect myself from my walk into my calling of Evangelism. Well after reading this on today. I’m going to specifically write down my concerns and ask God to help me through them one by one. I appreciate the advice.

  3. Hello ladies, I was just wondering if someone could give me some advice. Im 26years old and have been saved all my life. I got for real about my faith though when I had my first baby at 18. I have always seemed to struggle with having a relationship with God. Like I’m so scared to surrender all cuz I know that means I will have to do things I don’t want to do etc. I feel so guilty though being in the faith so long but to have not grown or change. And i just feel like I’m constantly running from God, I feel so lost, so stuck. Like Yes i wish i could know and love God rhe way I’m suppose to but there is always something holding me back and I know it’s myself. Does anyone know what to do here? Cuz i pray have people pray for me, i get a little victory and then bam there i am in bondage again. I’m just so tired of living this way i feel so lost.

    1. Hello Sandra
I could understand your feelings ! Just have this in mind relationship with God is just more to fear him or feel guilty or scared ! Take him as your best very Good freind and just feel him his love for you always remind yourself of all Good things he has done of trusting him then compare the fearful things that will happen when you draw out from him ! Then you will get confidence in him . As soon as you feel that it’s hard to follow him just take it simple ! To again pour out your heart to him to heal you ! Then there he comes again loving you rushing towards you with that love which heals you forever ! Day by day you will get strong when you love him as a freind and as a dad ! It’s simple not difficult ! Be positive in everything !

  5. There is one thing to know a person, but another thing to have a relationship with them. I know God for myself, and I have a relationship with him. I trust God, I know He loves me UNCONDITIONALLY ❤️ and I love Him❤️ I thank God for removing the fear that once had me bond. I prayed and fasted and God removed that fear. In life we are going to experience hurt, pain, disappointment, but we can not allow that from having a relationship with God and people. 🙏🏽The people God wants in your life, He will place them there. The ones that are not meant to be in your life, God will remove them. We have to pray and ask God for guidance and directions.
