Weather the Storms

“…in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength…” Isaiah 30:15

When I was a young girl, whenever a storm came, my mother would tell everyone to hush up and turn everything off. There was no watching television, no listening to our favorite songs on the radio, and not a whole lot of movement. Just stillness. Silence. I didn’t understand why we had to do this, but as I grew older, I began to understand — learning how to weather natural storms will teach you how to weather spiritual storms. The most profound lessons are learned, revelation and knowledge revealed, and you see God in a new way while in the middle of storms of life.

You may be desperate to get out of it, to get through it, to heal from it, to get past it, and for it to be over, but you must patiently endure the storm. The Lord will calm you and help you be still so that you can see what He wants you to see, and learn what He wants you to learn. He is with you, and He will help you. You will see the sun break through the clouds, and you will hear birds chirping after while. But for now, weather the storm. You will grow a deeper appreciation for the day when you’ve walked through the night. Your ears will love the sound of birds chirping when all you’ve heard was noisy thunder. Your faith is being tested and tried, and you will come out on the other side stronger and wiser.

Prayer: Father, thank you for encouraging my heart. You are my God, and I am your daughter. You hold me close during the storms of life. You help me endure and persevere by faith. You make me become quiet and still in my soul. I know you’ve got me and everything is going to be ok. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

  1. Thank you for this devotion. Learning to be still during a storm. Teaches us to not only be still but to know that even in the storm our Father is there with us! ❤️

  2. This is great! I was telling someone this weekend my faith is leaving. Ive been going through a lot and I see no ending. Like this is a punishment and Im living it daily. Then I had to have a talk with God and let him know Lord I trust you. Just help me see the reasonings and let me come out of this storm. When I read this the song by Douglas Miller came to mind “My Soul Is Anchored In the Lord” I pray this particular storm will cease soon, At times I feel I cant bear it but I have faith that ill endure it and keep going. 🙌🏽

    1. Amen! You’re encouraging me because someone encouraged you. WOW! Thanks EVERYONE who ever encouraged or inspired anyone to keep plowing through the storm of the ‘NIGHT IN THEIR LIFE’ encouraged them to go on right when they were @ the brink of cashing in & giving up. I’m saying “THANKS” because I’m IN A STORM now & ;yes; I want it to be over-NOW ALREADY-! But okay, I can hold on til the end. Y’all just keep praying for me. I’ll make it😇

  3. Be still through the physical storm so that you can deal with the spiritual storms there is a great lesson and that I have You who helps me to stay humble and draw closer to you.

  4. DEAR LORD, As each day passes it seems as if my storm gets more lengthier by me not being able to see a way out, but I must not underestimate or deny YOUR POWER. THE POWER that can turn all things around in an instant.
THANK YOU LORD for weathering the storms of life with me. For teaching me what needs to be learned through them and for promising to bring me out with a mighty hand ❣️

  5. Glory God is good all the time and all the time God is good. Patience is a virtue!! I have to keep pressing no matter how it looks and feels. Because I know that God will work it out in his own timing.
