When you are surrounded by needs.

“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:19, New Living Translation.

When you are surrounded by needs and everyone you love is experiencing a financial crisis, your heart goes out to them. You want to do whatever you can to help because that’s how you are wired. But it would be wise to not do anything right away. I know that doesn’t sound very Christian-like, but doing nothing allows you the opportunity to receive God’s wisdom and direction. It allows you the opportunity to see if God wants to provide for your loved one in a different way. It also allows them to pray and watch God come through for them, which strengthens their relationship with the Lord. If we allow every emergency to become our emergency, we risk making poor decisions.

When writing to the church at Philippi, the Apostle Paul said, “My God shall supply all of your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” He didn’t say, I’m going to supply all of your needs; he put the expectation on God. He had learned how to trust in the Lord, and was teaching the church at Phillipi the same. He had discovered he could be content in whatever state he found himself in.

When people you love are in need, take the time to pray and receive God’s wisdom and direction. Don’t do anything right away. Don’t make any promises you can’t afford to keep. You’re better off saying, “You’re not alone in this situation. We’re going to pray and trust God together to supply all of your needs.” This takes growth and maturity, my sister, but with God’s help, we can do it.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for your wisdom. You wired me to help people and minister to the needs of others. But help me, Father, to pause and not rush ahead of you. Give me wisdom and direction in every crisis situation that comes my way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. God will supply all our needs according to all His riches in glory! Praise the Lord for Holy Spirit wisdom πŸ™

  2. I also have a heart to help people, but this devotion shows me and confirms to me that My God knows their needs and lives better than I do. I will always pray for them, and I tell them that and I will always ask God if there is anyway I can help them. Sometimes as Christians, we tend to go overboard with our help, and that does prevent God working in their lives, and ours. I’m learning mire and more to pray and seek God’s will first. ThNk you for this devotion.

  3. Thank you for the Word today….This is so me, wired to help.
I will pause and allow GOD to do what He does, and wait for direction!

  4. This is for me as I often put others before myself and try to fix issues. I know that God can do a lot more than I can. Thank you for reminding me to let it go and trust in the Lord. Blessings, Shalom and Agape πŸ‘€πŸ™πŸ½β™₯οΈπŸ“–πŸ™ŒπŸ½

  6. Dear Kesha Your messages have ministered to me many days. Sometimes it was just the word I needed to hear. Thank you for being obedient. Love your sis in the Lord.

  7. We are to use wisdom when blessing others. At the same time, as the hands and feet of Jesus, we should do more than simply say, β€˜I’ll pray for you’ when we have the means to help. While prayer is important, we must actively offer support when we can. Ultimately, we should always exercise wisdomβ€”sometimes God opens opportunities for us to be a blessing, and sometimes He does not. Yes, we must exercise discernment and balance prayer with action.

  8. Amen Thank You Lord
You should supply all our needs.
It’s all you Lord not me. Continue to take care of us all Father. Thank you in advance in the name of Jesus Christ. It’s already done.β™₯️β™₯️β™₯️

  10. This is the first devotional that comes with a red flag warning.
Use caution!!!!! Depend on the need and situation. Sometimes God wants to use us because truthfully we are stewards of God’s money, everything belongs to God. Even our belongings and finances. It all belongs to Him. This devotional could very well be of the flesh and from a place of greed. Because if we know the good we should do and we don’t do it, it is sin.

  11. This gave me peace although I responded too quickly in a couple of instances. On this Friday I was challenged with crisis from three persons dear to me. One situation is truly far bigger than I know what to do with but I do trust God to make a way for them. The other two caused me to act quickly on a financial decision that caused a detour on my end. I took it as a sacrifice and thanked God for being a small blessing. I will moving forward pause and pray before jumping before God to aid others.
