Who are you walking with?

“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm” Proverbs 13:20, ESV.

There are times in my life when I am tempted to say and do things that are completely out of character. Times when I have wanted to put Jesus on the shelf and act a fool. If I were walking with unwise women during these times, I know I would not be where I am today. If I were walking with unwise women, I’d probably be locked up in jail somewhere. Who we walk with makes the difference between success or incarceration. I thank God He has helped me choose wise friends! The Bible says, “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.”

If you’ve made it your mission to become wiser in 2021 and grow in every area of your life, one way you will accomplish this is by surrounding yourself with the right people. Wise friends will encourage your spiritual growth, not hinder it. They will help you do the right thing, not make you feel like something’s wrong with you.

Jesus sat and talked with sinners, but He walked with His disciples. When it comes to walking with someone on your life’s journey, choose people who love God…I mean, really love God…and who genuinely want to please Him. They can be fun and have a great sense of humor, but at the end of the day, all they truly care about is you and your success in every area of life!

Prayer: Father God, I want to be wise, and I trust you to bring wise women in my life who can be there to remind me of who I am when I forget and who can help me grow in my relationship with you. I want to be a better woman, and I want to live in a way that is pleasing to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

(Read Proverbs 9:10)
