Worship God, Not Outcomes

“Remember how the LORD your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands” Deuteronomy 8:2, NLT.

Anyone can worship the Lord when everything is going well. The children of Israel gladly praised the Lord after they crossed over the Red Sea. They gave Him glory with no hesitation after they saw how He delivered them from the Egyptian army. The challenge came when they walked through the wilderness. They began to lose faith, lose patience, and lose their joy in believing. God allowed them to go through the wilderness to show them their heart.

As with us, God will allow us to go through the wilderness to show us what we believe. Will we be like the Israelites who lost faith the moment things became difficult, or will you be like God’s servant Job who bowed down and worshiped the Lord after losing everything? You get to choose.

Worship God, not outcomes. Our worship is not conditional. It’s not based on whether God answers our prayers or not. It’s based on Him being our King.

Declare this from your heart: “The Lord is my King, and I worship Him, not outcomes. I worship Him with all my heart because of who He is. I choose to trust in Him no matter what I face, and as I do, He strengthens my heart. He strengthens my faith and my joy in believing. He fills me as I humble myself in worship. Nothing will steal my praise and my worship. In Jesus’ name.”

(Read Job 1:20; Numbers 14:2; James 1:3-4; Psalms 96:9; 2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

    1. Ty for sharing this. I sometimes want the outcome before going through the process & growth. Right now in this time of revelation, I feel very sqeezed. My performance & work has been frequently low; distracted, slow, anxious. I m wondering if I should look for other work & yet I realize 1st I need to reorganize myself,(habit of being last minute),organized in my li ing space & frequently feeling too overwhelmed/ exhausted to do what I need to do. Please keep me in prayer, I sometimes feel like I m losing it.!

      1. I often feel thirds way lately. When I do I have started to tell myself it’s okto not be ok! I take a deep breath, all the LORD to help me, ti hold me up, and remember this is just another test. I can get through this.

  1. This has been my struggle lately. Im trying hard not to lose my faith. Ive been really praying about it, reading my word, the devotionals really help because it seems they hit on what Im dealing with @ times. I trust in the Lord and his process. Sometimes I feel like its alot but I know he will not give me more than I can bear.. he knows what i can handle more than me. Its hard @ times but I will remain confident… hes working on my behalf and I need to be patient. Sometimes I want to just say well look at these people they got it all … i know they dont go to church, they do drugs, hurt people and party etc. im like well if they have it so good maybe if i just say i give up and walk that path ill be better off. I look at the women in my life who have been saved since forever and they struggle and im like i dont understand. But they are strong and faithful . Its hard to be in this position . I was like the children but I chose to be like Job!

    1. Yes Nicole, i agree with you on choosing to be like Job. We will praise our Faithful Father no matter how things look. We will not look at the world prospering in their wicked ways but we will focus our gaze on what God is doing IN us, because our afflictions bring about a more eternal treasure, we will endure the refiner’s fire and in trust and obedience come out as pure gold.
      Hallelujah
      Much much love my sister.

  2. Yes, it’s easier to praise God when things are going well… I’m learning it’s a process of conditioning your mind and will to praise through the storm.

It takes time and test after test for it to become easier to praise in the wilderness… I know for me it’s not that I don’t believe it’s just I get weak and I can’t seem to find the energy to praise in those times.

But praise God I’ve been through these tests enough to see what needs to be done despite my feelings, and if I just have to cry and say a very short prayer as simple as “Lord help” I’ve learned to find the strength to do just that. And I know that’s worthy of praise to Him. Even if you have to turn your worship music on it’s a fight and a praise 💪

So I thank God for strengthening me in this area and I know it gets better with time. “Though you slay me yet will I praise you.” Because in the end your making me stronger 🙌
